Current treatments for severe SLE, including glucocorticoids, cytotoxic, and immunosuppressive drugs, have significant limitations. These treatments do not adequately control the underlying autoimmune process and require long-term use, leading to chronic side effects and often failing to prevent permanent organ damage.
