The main questions it aims to answer are:\n\n* Does the surgical outcome recorded at the earlier 6-month follow up persist at the long-term follow up approximately 10 years postoperatively?\n* How does the radiologically determined degree of joint degeneration change with time in patients that have had joint surgery? Researchers will compare the six-month surgical outcome to the ten-year outcome to see if temporomandibular joint surgery results are stable over time.\n\nParticipants with an earlier performed joint surgery will:\n\n* Have a clinical examination approximately ten years postoperatively.\n* Have a temporomandibular joint x-ray scan performed (cone-beam computed tomography).",[24,25,26],"Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)","Temporomandibular Joint Disc Displacement, With Reduction","Temporomandibular Joint Disc Displacement, Without Reduction","RECRUITING","2025-12-09",{"date":30,"type":31},"2025-12-17","ACTUAL",{"date":33,"type":31},"2025-04-01",{"date":35,"type":19},"2026-05",{"name":37,"class":38},"Karolinska Institutet","OTHER",1,{"id":41,"slug":42,"hasResults":11,"nctId":43,"briefTitle":44,"officialTitle":45,"acronym":46,"eligibilityCriteria":47,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":15,"minAge":16,"maxAge":4,"enrollmentInfo":48,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":50,"phases":51,"briefSummary":53,"conditions":54,"keywords":4,"overallStatus":27,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":55,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":56,"startDateStruct":58,"completionDateStruct":59,"leadSponsor":61,"locationsCount":39},"100576199","tmj-arthroscopic-lysis-and-lavage-compared-to-operative-arthroscopy-in-disc-displacement-with-reduction-100576199","NCT06782191","TMJ Arthroscopic Lysis and Lavage Compared to Operative Arthroscopy in Disc Displacement With Reduction.","Temporomandibular Joint Arthroscopic Lysis and Lavage Compared to Operative Arthroscopy in Disc Displacement With Reduction: a Randomised, Double-blind, Controlled Trial","ALLOAA","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Uni- or bilateral DDwR verified with clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings\n* TMJ pain ≥ 3 (NRS) and\u002For TMJ disability ≥ 3 (NRS)\n* Age ≥ 18 years\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Prior open TMJ surgery\n* Patient diagnosed with rheumatologic joint disease\n* ASA (American Society of Anaesthesiologists) \\> 3\n* Patient unable to verify informed consent",{"count":49,"type":19},96,"INTERVENTIONAL",[52],"NA","The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the intervention arthroscopic lysis and lavage to the intervention operative arthroscopy in treating disabling and painful temporomandibular joint disc displacement with reduction.
