The POP-Score combines peripheral muscle oxygenation measured via near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) with routinely monitored clinical parameters (heart rate, oxygen saturation, systolic blood pressure, and subcutaneous fat thickness). The study aims to determine the optimal cut-off value of the POP-Score measured within the first 6 hours after birth to predict elevated C-reactive protein (CRP ≥20 mg\u002FL) within 48 hours. Additionally, multi-site NIRS measurements (cerebral, peripheral muscle, intestinal, and flank) will be evaluated to assess their association with inflammation. The study includes term and moderate-to-late preterm neonates (birth weight ≥2000g) with respiratory distress, admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at the Medical University of Graz.",[26,27,28,29,30,31,32],"Prematurity, Infections","NIRS","Near Infrared Spectroscopy","Preterm Neonates","Term Infant","Infection","Neonatal Sepsis, Early-Onset",[27,34,15,35,36],"near-infrared spectroscopy","neonates","preterm neonates","RECRUITING","2026-05-12",{"date":40,"type":41},"2026-05-14","ACTUAL",{"date":43,"type":41},"2025-11-27",{"date":45,"type":22},"2028-05-01",{"name":47,"class":48},"Medical University of Graz","OTHER",1,{"id":51,"slug":52,"hasResults":11,"nctId":53,"briefTitle":54,"officialTitle":55,"acronym":56,"eligibilityCriteria":57,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":17,"minAge":58,"maxAge":59,"enrollmentInfo":60,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":62,"phases":63,"briefSummary":65,"conditions":66,"keywords":68,"overallStatus":37,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":74,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":75,"startDateStruct":77,"completionDateStruct":78,"leadSponsor":80,"locationsCount":49},"100565178","brain-uptrain-to-improve-learning-and-development-100565178","NCT06638801","Brain Uptrain to Improve Learning and Development","Brain Uptrain to Improve Learning and Development: A Randomized Clinical Trial","BUILD","Inclusion Criteria: inborn at UAB, delivered at more than 35 weeks' gestation, planned for discharge home after initial hospitalization.\n\n\\-\n\nExclusion Criteria: a major malformation, a known syndrome, admitted to the NICU, in DHR custody, enrolled in a competing study, and family's primary language is other than English or Spanish.\n\n\\-","1 Day","7 Days",{"count":61,"type":22},188,"INTERVENTIONAL",[64],"NA","The purpose of this study is to see if an early literacy and developmental program in addition to shared reading can increase developmental test scores at 24 months of age.
