Gemelli IRCCS, aims to create a large-scale database of gynecological ultrasound images. These images will be collected during routine clinical care from both healthy patients and those with benign or malignant gynecological conditions. The goal is to support medical training, clinical research, and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) models for diagnostic purposes.\n\nThis is a prospective, observational, single-center study, with an expected enrollment of approximately 25,000 patients over five years. The ultrasound images will be linked to histological outcomes (for those undergoing surgery within 3 months) or to follow-up scans at 1 year, to enhance early diagnosis and personalized treatment approaches.",[24,25,26],"Gynecological Imaging","Ultrasound Diagnostics","Gynecologic Disease",[28],"Ultrasound Imaging","RECRUITING","2026-03-10",{"date":32,"type":33},"2026-03-12","ACTUAL",{"date":35,"type":33},"2025-06-25",{"date":37,"type":20},"2030-05-30",{"name":39,"class":40},"Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS","OTHER",1,{"id":43,"slug":44,"hasResults":11,"nctId":45,"briefTitle":46,"officialTitle":47,"acronym":4,"eligibilityCriteria":48,"healthyVolunteers":11,"sex":49,"minAge":50,"maxAge":51,"enrollmentInfo":52,"targetDuration":4,"studyType":21,"phases":4,"briefSummary":54,"conditions":55,"keywords":59,"overallStatus":61,"whyStopped":4,"lastUpdateSubmitDate":62,"lastUpdatePostDateStruct":63,"startDateStruct":65,"completionDateStruct":67,"leadSponsor":69,"locationsCount":41},"100607781","the-effect-of-bipap-on-diaphragmatic-function-100607781","NCT07193017","The Effect of BIPAP on Diaphragmatic Function","The Effects of Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure (BIPAP) Use on Diaphragm Functions in Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)","Inclusion Criteria:\n\n* Being between 40-80 years of age,\n* Having a diagnosis of stable COPD for at least 1 year,\n* Being in a stable phase (no acute exacerbation within the last 4 weeks),\n* Meeting the GOLD 2025 A-B-E classification according to symptoms and exacerbation history,\n* Having been initiated on BiPAP therapy with a clinical indication,\n* Being willing to participate in the study and providing informed consent.\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Pregnancy,\n* Diaphragmatic paralysis,\n* Neuromuscular and neurological diseases,\n* Decompensated heart failure,\n* Chest deformity,\n* Acute exacerbation within the last month,\n* Pneumothorax,\n* Body mass index greater than 35 kg\u002Fm²,\n* Long-term corticosteroid use,\n* Chemotherapy,\n* Active malignancy,\n* Inability to cooperate,\n* Thoracoabdominal surgery within the last 3 months.","ALL","40 Years","80 Years",{"count":53,"type":20},30,"This research is designed to evaluate how long-term treatment with Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) influences diaphragm function in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) who suffer from chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure. The diaphragm is the primary muscle of breathing, and its dysfunction is linked to unfavorable clinical outcomes such as higher mortality rates and frequent hospitalizations. In this prospective cohort study, COPD patients starting BiPAP therapy based on clinical indication will be monitored through repeated ultrasound assessments of diaphragm structure and function together with pulmonary function testing, respiratory muscle strength evaluation, dyspnea. The main outcome of interest is the change in diaphragm thickness in inspiration, thickness in expiration, diaphragm thickening fraction (DTF), diaphragm maximum contraction velocity and maximum relaxation velocity across a 6 weeks as a early time and 12 months for long time follow-up period. Secondary measures include hospital admissions, and one-year survival. The study is expected to generate valuable evidence about the link between non-invasive ventilation and diaphragm function, which may contribute to optimizing treatment strategies for COPD patients with advanced respiratory failure.",[56,57,25,58],"BIPAP Biphasic Intermittent Positive Airway Pressure","Diaphragm Issues","COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)",[60],"bıpap, diaphragm function, diaphragm ultrasound, copy","NOT_YET_RECRUITING","2025-09-24",{"date":64,"type":33},"2025-09-25",{"date":66,"type":20},"2025-10-15",{"date":68,"type":20},"2027-06-15",{"name":70,"class":40},"Istanbul Demiroglu Bilim University"]
