Asthma Patients

The mainstay of asthma treatment are ICSs, mostly combined with LABA. In the past decade LAMA had been accepted as an add-on treatment for patients at GINA steps 4 and 5. Recently, RCTs proved the efficacy and safety of fixed triple combinations of moderate and high dose of ICS and LABA, LAMA in a very selected asthmatic population, resulting in the market authorisation of these products. However, there is a lack of evidence on the real-world effectiveness of these therapies, especially with regards to improvement in symptom scores and adherence.

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a pharmacist-led counseling and self-management application program on improving asthma management outcomes among adult patients with asthma receiving care at a Midwest chain pharmacy in Iowa, United States. The study investigates whether integrating the pharmacist counseling with self-management theory can enhance patients' medication adherence, asthma control, inhaler technique, and overall asthma awareness. These outcomes will be assessed at both 3 and 6 months after enrollment. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two arms. The intervention group, which will receive a comprehensive pharmacist-led counseling program supported by a mobile application ("Don R.Ph Application"). The control group, which will receive standard pharmacy care as per usual practice.

This randomized controlled trial study aimed to measure the effectiveness of the combination of 4-weeks Buteyko breathing exercises and pharmacological therapy compared with pharmacological therapy alone in children with uncontrolled asthma.

The aim of the study; to determine the effect of the education program given to individuals diagnosed with asthma based on Roy's adjustment model on their psychosocial adjustment to the disease and their quality of life.

Bronchial asthma, as a chronic inflammatory disease of the respiratory tract, significantly reduces the quality of life of patients. Standard treatment includes pharmacotherapy, but a holistic approach, including manual therapies, can support pharmacological therapy, reducing the need for drugs. The aim of the research is to verify whether deep tissue massage (DTM) techniques applied to the chest significantly affect respiratory parameters in people with asthma. The study is the next stage of the study conducted on healthy people. After obtaining positive results in the study involving people not suffering from respiratory diseases, the next step is to examine people with, in this case, bronchial asthma. It is important to determine whether the use of this form of manual therapy can bring benefits in the context of improving respiratory functions, reducing respiratory muscle tension and relieving subjective symptoms associated with asthma, such as shortness of breath or limitations in everyday functioning. The hypothesis assumes that DTM techniques can have a bigger effect on the respiratory system than classic massage (CM). The study is a randomized controlled trial, where participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups: the study group (subjected to DTM) or the control group (subjected to CM). Before and after the massage intervention, participants will undergo spirometry to assess the changes in respiratory parameters. The obtained data will then be analyzed for effects on respiratory parameters and differences between both groups.
