Extended Oral Antibiotic Prophylaxis in Diabetic Fracture Patients

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if taking an antibiotic pill for 7 days after surgery reduces the risk of wound infection in adults with poorly controlled diabetes who have surgery to fix a broken bone in the leg, ankle, or foot. It will also learn about the safety of the extended antibiotic course. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does a 7-day antibiotic course after surgery lower the rate of wound infection within 90 days? What medical problems do participants have when taking the extended antibiotic course? Researchers will compare a 7-day course of an oral antibiotic (cefadroxil) to standard care (no additional antibiotics after surgery) to see if the extended course reduces infections. Participants will: Take an antibiotic pill or receive standard care for 7 days after surgery Receive a phone call from the study team about 1 week after surgery Visit the clinic at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months after surgery for checkups

A Clinical Trial on the Use of Lidocaine Infusion During Surgery for Pediatric Upper Extremity Fractures and Its Impact on Total Perioperative Opioid Requirements

This study is a prospective, randomized, double-blind clinical trial evaluating whether intraoperative intravenous lidocaine infusion (IVLI) reduces opioid requirements and improves postoperative pain control in children undergoing surgical fixation of upper extremity long bone fractures under general anesthesia. Ninety pediatric patients, ages 3-18 will be enrolled and randomized 1:1 to receive either IV lidocaine or placebo (normal saline) during surgery. All participants will receive standardized anesthesia care and postoperative pain management. Opioid consumption and pain scores will be measured intraoperatively and throughout the postoperative recovery, with the primary outcome focused on total opioid use 60 minutes after arrival to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU). Secondary outcomes include opioid use at additional time points, postoperative pain scores, PACU length of stay, rescue antiemetic use and the relationship between infusion duration and outcomes. Patients will be closely monitored for signs of local anesthetic systemic toxicity and other adverse events. The goal of this study is to determine whether IV lidocaine is an effective opioid-sparing adjunct in pediatric orthopedic surgery and to support safer, multimodal analgesia strategies.

RemeOs™ DrillPin for Fixation of Distal Radius Fractures in Children

This is a pre-market, single-arm, open-label, monocenter clinical investigation evaluating the safety and performance of the magnesium (Mg)-based bioresorbable RemeOs™ DrillPin for surgical fixation of distal radius fractures in pediatric patients. The study will enroll 20 children aged over 5 and under 14 years to assess implantation success, early safety outcomes, and long-term effects on growth and bone healing.
