Motivational Interviewing and Subgingival Instrumentation Outcomes in Periodontitis

Motivational Interviewing (MI) represents a patient centered counselling approach designed to facilitate behaviour change by guiding patients through the exploration and resolution of ambivalence toward positive health actions. Adapting OARS microskills (open ended questions fostering dialogue, affirmations building self-efficacy, reflective listening mirroring emotions, summarization making commitments) intertwined with the RULE framework (resisting the righting reflex, understanding personal motivations, empathic listening, empowering autonomy) helps cultivate patient's intrinsic motivation for sustained oral hygiene adherence. It effectively resolves ambivalence toward plaque control behaviours essential for periodontitis management. Grounded in MI's core spirit of equal partnership, evocation of inner values, acceptance and compassionate support, this approach fosters long term adherence to treatment. This is in contrast to oral hygiene instructions that typically employ a directive advice giving method, where clinicians provide patients with prescriptive guidance on maintaining optimal oral hygiene practices. Periodontitis staging, as defined by the 2017 World Workshop classification, delineates disease severity (Stages I-III), complexity of management, and extent of involvement, while grading (A-C) offers a prognostic indicator of the risk for future progression based on factors such as rate of advancement and responsiveness to therapy. Integrating motivational interviewing (MI) with periodontitis staging and grading creates a structured framework from diagnosis to patient centered action, enhancing adherence to stage specific treatment plans. This study seeks to investigate the influence of MI on Clinical outcomes, Patient motivation, Patient related outcomes and Patient's Self-efficacy in oral hygiene following subgingival instrumentation among patients stratified by periodontitis stage. By doing so, it aims to explore the potential of behavior change interventions to yield not only clinical improvements but also broader health benefits in the management of periodontitis.

The Effect of Motivational Interviewing-Based Education on Treatment Adherence and Self-Care Agency in COPD Patients

This randomized controlled trial will be conducted to evaluate the effect of education and motivational interviewing on treatment adherence and self-care power in COPD patients. Hypotheses of the Study; H1: Education and motivational interviewing in COPD patients increase treatment adherence in patients. H2: Education and motivational interviewing in COPD patients increase self-care power in patients. There will be two groups in the study: control and intervention groups. Before the intervention, pre-test data will be collected in the control and intervention groups. After the intervention, post-test data will be collected in both groups in line with the data collection forms.

Motivational Interviewing and WhatsApp-Based Monitoring for Metabolic Control and Self-Efficacy in Adolescents With T1DM

This clinical study aims to determine the effects of motivational interviewing and social media-based patient monitoring on metabolic control and self-efficacy in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. Additionally, the study will assess the adolescents\' attitudes toward their disease, quality of life, and perceived levels of social support. The primary research questions are as follows: For adolescents with Type 1 diabetes who receive motivational interviewing and social media-based monitoring: How do their attitudes toward their disease compare to those in the control group? How do their perceived levels of social support compare to those in the control group? How do their self-efficacy levels compare to those in the control group? How does their quality of life compare to that of the control group? How do their HbA1c levels compare to those in the control group?

AI-Augmented Motivational Interviewing Training for Primary Care

This study will examine the impact of training primary care providers (PCPs) in motivational interviewing (MI) using artificial intelligence (AI) to augment the training process. MI is a patient-centered approach to engaging patients in their own care. There will be a control group and two intervention groups, with the intervention groups receiving a different amount of MI training. The hypothesis is that the AI-augmented MI training will result in improved patient outcomes, improved clinician wellbeing, and reduced behavioral manifestation of clinician biases. This mixed-methods project will also collect qualitative data from structured interviews and focus groups with participating PCPs to examine perceived facilitators and barriers to the use of the MI approach in primary care.

Motivational Interviewing Applied to Individuals With Diabetes

This study will be conducted using a randomized controlled trial design to evaluate the effect of online individual motivational interviewing on well-being, stress and difficulties in individuals with diabetes. The study will be conducted between March 2024 and March 2025 with individuals with Type 2 Diabetes who are followed up in Yozgat Bozok University Health Practice and Research Center Internal Medicine Polyclinic. The motivational interview group will receive a motivational interview once a week, lasting a maximum of 40 minutes, consisting of a total of four sessions. Chi-square (X2), t-test, repeated measures analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficient, partial eta-square and linear regression analysis will be used to evaluate the data.

The Effect of Motivational Interviewing-Based Health Behavior Training in Chronically Ill Migrant Women

This randomized controlled experimental study will be conducted to investigate the effect of health seeking behavior training based on motivational interviewing techniques on health seeking behaviors, illness self-management and anxiety in migrant elderly women with chronic illness. Hypotheses of the Study H11: Health-seeking behaviors training based on motivational interviewing techniques with migrant elderly women with chronic diseases will improve individuals' correct health-seeking behaviors. H12: Health seeking behaviors training based on motivational interviewing techniques with migrant elderly women with chronic diseases will increase individuals' disease self-management. H13: Health-seeking behaviors training based on motivational interviewing techniques with migrant elderly women with chronic diseases will reduce the anxiety level of individuals. In the study, there will be an intervention group in which health-seeking behavior training based on motivational interviewing techniques will be applied and a control group in which no intervention will be applied. The "Migrant Elderly Women with Chronic Diseases" in the intervention group, who will receive Health Seeking Behavior Training based on Motivational Interviewing Techniques, will be divided into four groups (the researcher conducting the intervention will interview the individuals in the 4 groups individually for 4 days). The interviews will be conducted 4 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) and the Health Seeking Behavior Training Based on Motivational Interviewing Techniques, which lasts 4 weeks and each session is approximately 30-35 minutes, will be applied face-to-face.
