Quantifying Motor Network Dynamics to Predict and Enhance Outcomes in Pediatric Dystonia

The goal of this study is to understand the development and progression of childhood dystonia, a movement disorder, in children. The main questions it aims to answer are: How does the activity of the neural network evolve in children with dystonia in the context of motor development? What are the effects of chronic and active stimulation on cortical and subcortical motor network function in children with deep brain stimulation (DBS)? Participants will: * Undergo noninvasive electrophysiological measurements (EEG, EMG) to quantify neural network activity. They will be tested at rest and during a simple motor reaction task. * Children with DBS will be assessed in the on and off DBS state to assess effects of chronic and active changes in motor network function.

Wearable Sensors to Detect Atypical Muscle Activation in Young Infants

The purpose of this study is to see if wearable sensor technology can be used to evaluate muscle activity and/or identify atypical muscle tone in infants up to 48 weeks postmenstrual age (8 weeks corrected age). These sensors are placed on the surface of the skin and record data about a child's body movements and muscle activity.

Are Developmentally At Risky Babies Environmentally Disadvantaged?

A study conducted on infants aged between 3 and 11 months revealed a positive relationship between the home environment and developmental outcomes. Similarly, another study found that variability in motor and cognitive development could be better explained by environmental factors and parental knowledge and practices. It has also been shown that the opportunities provided in the home environment of preterm infants may be associated with motor development and sensory processing skills. In the literature, it is generally observed that studies evaluate either term infants or both preterm and term infants together. In the present study, however, infants at developmental risk and typically developing infants will be evaluated separately. The aim of this study is to assess whether infants at developmental risk are disadvantaged in terms of their home environment. The hypotheses of this study are as follows: H1-1: There is a difference in environmental arrangements between typically developing infants and those at developmental risk. H1-2: There is a relationship between home environmental arrangements and motor development. H1-3: There is a relationship between home environmental arrangements and sensory profile.

Impact of Vestibular Function on Deaf Infants' Activities of Daily Living

This non-interventional study aims to assess the impact of vestibular impairments on the daily life activities of deaf children aged 0 to 2 years old. Three groups of participants will be included: deaf children with vestibular impairment, deaf children without vestibular impairment, and hearing children without vestibular dysfunction (control group). Children's daily activities will be evaluated through the OT Hope 0-5 years tool, a parent-administered questionnaire designed to measure competencies in different areas: personal care, play, and social interactions. This study also includes qualitative interviews with parents to further explore how vestibular impairments affect children's daily routines. It is hypothesized that: * Deaf children with vestibular impairments will show lower scores in daily life activities compared to the other two groups. * Deaf children without vestibular impairments will demonstrate scores closer to those of hearing children but may show some differences due to their hearing status. The research is conducted at the Robert Debré Hospital, in Paris, and aims to enroll 105 children over a three-year period. The data collected will provide insights into the specific needs of children with vestibular impairments and lay the groundwork for targeted early interventions.
