A Just-in-Time Digital Learning Platform for Teacher Oral Health Training

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of a Just-in-Time Digital Learning Platform designed to improve teachers' oral health literacy and support the delivery of oral health education in schools. Teachers play an important role in promoting healthy behaviors among children, but many have limited access to structured oral health training. Digital microlearning approaches may provide a scalable and cost-effective solution for strengthening teacher capacity in school-based oral health promotion. Teachers assigned to the intervention group will receive access to a digital learning platform that delivers short, interactive, and evidence-based oral health training modules through mobile devices. The platform will provide educational content, reminders, quizzes, feedback, and progress monitoring. Teachers in the control group will receive standard information or routine training practices. The study will assess changes in teachers' oral health literacy, knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in delivering oral health education. It will also evaluate implementation outcomes, including acceptability, feasibility, adoption, fidelity, reach, and engagement with the digital platform. In addition, the study will examine whether improvements in teacher training lead to better oral health knowledge, behaviors, and clinical oral health outcomes among students.

SEHAT Virtual Oral Health Promotion for School Adolescents in Pakistan

The goal of this cluster-randomized trial is to learn if the SEHAT program works to improve oral health among school adolescents in Pakistan. It will also assess how the program affects oral health behaviors and knowledge. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does the SEHAT program improve toothbrushing behavior and oral hygiene? 2. Does the SEHAT program reduce plaque and gingival scores among adolescents? 3. Does the program improve oral health knowledge and awareness? Researchers will compare the SEHAT virtual intervention with conventional oral health education and a control group to see which approach is most effective. Participants will: 1. Take part in either the virtual SEHAT session or conventional in-person oral health education, or receive no intervention (control) 2. Watch structured 30-minute sessions delivered via Zoom (virtual group) or classroom instruction (conventional group) 3. Participate in follow-up assessments to measure plaque, gingival indices, and oral health knowledge and behaviors.

UL Smile: A Mobile Health Application to Promote Oral Health in Portuguese Adolescents

This study is part of a doctoral research project in Oral Health Sciences and Technologies, with a specialization in Dental Hygiene, at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon. With the advancement of technology, smartphones and mobile applications (apps) have become an integral part of daily life, especially among adolescents and young adults, who are the main users of these devices. In 2023, global app downloads reached an estimated 257 billion, including a growing number of health-related apps, known as Mobile Health or mHealth, and, more specifically, apps targeting oral health. Oral diseases, such as dental caries and periodontal disease, remain a major public health issue due to their high prevalence and impact on quality of life. Although these conditions are preventable, the adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors continues to be challenging. Mobile apps may serve as an effective complement to oral health consultations, promoting motivation, adherence to recommendations, and communication with healthcare professionals. Despite the increasing availability of oral health apps, evidence regarding their effectiveness is still limited. Many of these tools lack scientific rigor and fail to adequately meet users' needs. In this context, an original Portuguese-language mobile application for promoting oral health was developed, based on current scientific evidence and preliminary exploratory studies involving adolescents and oral health professionals. These studies aimed to identify the most relevant features for this type of tool. The app was designed using the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) model, widely recognized for structuring effective behavior change interventions in health. This mobile app was developed by a multidisciplinary team from the University of Lisbon, involving experts from various faculties, including Psychology, Sciences, Dental Medicine, and Fine Arts. As an original tool, it is not yet available on app stores. The main aim of this study is to test the effectiveness of this app as a complement to oral health consultations in a population of adolescents living in Portugal, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this field and to the promotion of more innovative and user-centered clinical practices. These are the specific objectives of the study: 1. To assess the effectiveness of the app when used as a complement to dental hygiene consultations in relation to several oral health indicators, namely risk of dental caries, gingival inflammation, dental plaque presence, and oral self-care behaviors. 2. To analyze the level of satisfaction and usability of the app's features. The main hypotheses are: 1. The app will significantly improve oral health indicators, including plaque levels, gingival inflammation, and caries risk, compared to a control group. 2. The app will increase adherence to recommended oral hygiene behaviors (e.g., brushing frequency, interdental cleaning). 3. Adolescents using the app will report higher motivation and self-efficacy for oral self-care. 4. The app will demonstrate high usability and user satisfaction, supporting its potential for broader implementation.

Assessing the Impact of a Social Media-Based Educational Intervention Using WhatsApp Video Messages on Dental Caries Prevention Knowledge, Oral Hygiene Practices, and Attitudes Toward Dental Health Among Primary School Children Aged 10-12 Years in Public Schools in Cairo Governorate, Egypt: A Quasi-

The goal of this study is to learn if educational videos sent through WhatsApp can improve dental health knowledge, healthy habits, and attitudes in primary school children aged 10 to 12 years in Cairo, Egypt. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Do children who receive dental health videos through WhatsApp have better knowledge about caring for their teeth after 8 weeks compared to children who do not receive the videos? * Do children who watch the videos brush their teeth more often and correctly, and make healthier food choices? * Do children who watch the videos feel more positive about taking care of their teeth and visiting the dentist? Researchers will compare children in Grade 5 who receive 6 short dental health videos through WhatsApp (one video per week for 6 weeks) to children in Grade 6 who continue their normal school activities to see if the videos lead to better knowledge, healthy habits, and more positive attitudes about dental health. This prospective survey study investigates knowledge, attitudes, experiences, and practices related to dental care in patients with head and neck cancer among affected patients and dentists. Participants complete an anonymous online questionnaire before and after receiving written, guideline-based information.
