Oxygenation in Posterior Stabilization Surgery

This study aims to evaluate the effects of prone positioning on oxygenation, ventilation, and hemodynamic parameters in patients undergoing posterior stabilization surgery under general anesthesia. By comparing routine anesthesia and monitoring data obtained in the supine and prone positions, the study seeks to determine how positional changes influence respiratory mechanics and perioperative physiological stability.

Remote Investigation and Assessment of Vital Signs

The vital signs (pulse, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation and body temperature) are critical in assessing the severity and prognosis of infections. The devices used today for measuring the vital signs have to be in physical contact with the patients. There is an apparent risk of transferring infections from one patient to the next (or to healthcare professionals). Accurately obtaining vital signs is also important when managing other categories of patients where it may be relevant to obtain some of the vital signs such as pulse and blood pressure. This project aims to evaluate a new camera-based system for contactless measurement of vital signs.

Effect of Kangaroo Care on Test Weighing

The study will be conducted with the Crossover Randomized Controlled Method. The infants who have attained oral feeding in the neonatal intensive care unit will be divided into two groups via randomization in the computer environment. After the randomization, kangaroo care will be applied to the infants in Group 1 during the first feeding hour when they are included in the study and they will be breastfed by their mothers without any other application during the next feeding. On the other hand, no application will be performed on the infants in Group 2 during the first feeding hour when they are included in the study and kangaroo care will be applied to them during the second feeding hour. The infants in both groups will be breastfed by their mothers during the feeding hours.

Local and Systemic Oxygen Saturation During 'Death by Squats' Exercise

During the exercise intervention "Death by Squats", which compasses body weight squats until maximum exertion, 25-30 subjects shall be tested for heart rate, the oxygen saturation of the vastus medialis and the triceps, resting and at maximum exertion blood lactate, as well as the rate of perceived exertion on the borg scale. At the end, all should indicate their primary reason for stopping (local fatigue, systemic fatigue, time constraints, motivational deficit).

Validation of Vital Signs Recording With VT-Patch Connected Devices in Children

: Patient readmission to PICU is a major point of concern for physicians because, although being a rare event, it has been strongly associated with more morbidity and death. Patient monitoring once they have left the PICU is drastically modified, and small connected devices could be an option to early identify patients at risk of PICU readmission. Such devices have been manufactured for the recording of vital signs in adults, but they do not exist for children. Besides, studies have recently shown that devices that use optical sensors may be less accurate in individuals with dark skin pigmentation since dark skin tones impose a limitation on optical biometric sensing. The wearable and medical device industry has not sufficiently addressed this issue yet. This is one of the main challenges that need to be addressed in this area to make sure the connected devices using this technology will work with all different skin colours including very dark skin.

Comparison of Oxygen Saturation Measurements Using Different Glove Colors in Children

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different colored gloves on oxygen saturation in pediatric patients whose oxygen saturation was measured by pulse oximetry in pediatric emergency department. The population of the study, which is planned as a prospective cohort study, will consist of children between the ages of 3-18 years who underwent oxygen saturation measurements in the pediatric emergency clinic of İzmir Bakırçay University Cigli and Training and Research Hospital between October 2024 and October 2025.
