Negative Pressure Wound Therapy for Split Thickness Skin Grafting to the Lower Leg After Excision of Skin Tumour: A Multicentre Randomised Study

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare the effect of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) versus traditional dressings on the incidence of transplant infection in adult patients undergoing split-thickness skin grafting (STSG) to the lower leg following excision of a skin tumour. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does NPWT reduce the incidence of transplant infection within three months after STSG? Does NPWT improve secondary outcomes such as graft take, reduce reoperations, complications, and resource use? Researchers will compare patients treated with NPWT to patients treated with traditional dressings to see if NPWT results in lower infection rates and better clinical outcomes. Participants will: Undergo excision of a skin tumour on the lower leg followed by STSG. Be randomized to receive either NPWT or traditional dressings applied over the graft. Follow a structured postoperative care and mobilisation schedule. Attend follow-up visits at day 5 and day 14 postoperatively and be monitored through medical record review up to three months after surgery.

The Use of Cultured (Dermal) Epithelial Autografts in Severely Burned Patients

The Swisskera project is a multicenter follow-up study at the three Swiss burn centers evaluating long-term outcomes after burn wound coverage with lab-grown epithelial grafts, specifically cultured epithelial autograft (CEA) and, where applicable, cultured dermal-epidermal autograft (CDEA). Patients who received CEA/CDEA between 1985 and 2023 will be invited for a study visit , using available clinical records and standardized long-term scar and skin assessments. Long-term skin quality will be evaluated by comparing the previously transplanted area with a matched healthy skin reference site using non-invasive measurements (e.g., thickness, transepidermal water loss, hydration, elasticity, and color). Optional small punch biopsies may be obtained from transplanted areas (under local anesthesia or during clinically indicated anesthesia) for histological and immunohistochemical characterization of scar tissue remodeling, including collagen and elastin architecture, vascularization, nerve fiber ingrowth, inflammatory cell patterns, and melanocyte distribution.

Aloe Vera vs Paraffin Tulle Dressings for Pain Management in Split Thickness Skin Graft Donor Sites

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if Aloe Vera gel dressing helps reduce pain better than traditional paraffin-based tulle dressing at the donor site of split-thickness skin grafts in adult patients aged 18 to 60. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does Aloe Vera gel dressing reduce postoperative pain more effectively than paraffin-based tulle dressing on the 7th day after surgery? Is there a difference in the need for additional pain medication between the two groups? Researchers will compare Aloe Vera gel dressing to paraffin-based tulle dressing to see if Aloe Vera leads to better pain control. Participants will: Undergo split-thickness skin graft surgery Receive either Aloe Vera gel dressing or paraffin-based tulle dressing at the donor site Have pain measured using a visual analogue scale (VAS) on the 7th day after surgery Be given pain medication if their pain score is 4 or higher, and the amount used will be recorded
