Cervical Stabilization Exercises IN Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

The goal of this clinical trial study is to determine efficacy of adding cervical stabilization exercises (CSEs) to conventional physical therapy (PT) program on pain severity, shoulder function disability, kinesiophobia, shoulder range of motion (ROM), isometric muscle strength and upper limb (UL) functional activity in closed kinetic chain in patients with SIS. The main questions it aims to answer is: What are the effects of adding cervical stabilization exercises to a conventional physical therapy program in the management of shoulder impingement syndrome? Researchers will compare two groups: one group will receive CSEs beside the conventional PT program to the another group will receive the conventional PT program.

Effects of Kinesio Taping on Thoracolumbar Fascia Flexibility in Patients With Shoulder Injury

The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to investigate the acute effects of fascia correction Kinesio Taping applied to the thoracolumbar fascia (TLF) in individuals with Subacromial Impingement Syndrome (SIS). Participants will be randomly allocated into an intervention group and a sham taping control group. The intervention group will receive fascia correction Kinesio Taping applied to the thoracolumbar region, while the control group will receive sham taping without therapeutic effect. Clinical parameters including pain intensity, trunk range of motion, thoracolumbar fascia flexibility, lumbar mobility, and posterior shoulder capsule tightness will be assessed before the intervention and 45 minutes after the application. This study aims to provide evidence regarding the acute clinical effects of thoracolumbar fascia modulation in individuals with Subacromial Impingement Syndrome.

Effect of Blood Flow Restriction Training Versus Pilates on Shoulder Impingement Syndrome

Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain, accounting for a large proportion of musculoskeletal complaints. It is characterized by narrowing of the subacromial space, leading to pain, weakness, limited range of motion, and impaired shoulder function. Muscle weakness, especially of the rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers, plays a major role in its pathomechanics. Although conventional strengthening exercises are effective, they are often delayed until pain subsides, which may prolong recovery. Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training and Pilates exercises have recently emerged as promising approaches that may enhance strength and function during earlier, painful stages of rehabilitation. However, limited research has compared both interventions in patients with SAIS. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effectiveness of BFR training versus Pilates exercises, in addition to conventional therapy, on pain, function, range of motion, muscle strength, and proprioception in patients with painful SAIS.

Comparison of Supervised Rehabilitation and Home Exercise Programs in Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

This randomized controlled trial aims to compare the effectiveness of physiotherapist-supervised rehabilitation and home exercise programs in individuals with subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS). SAIS is a common musculoskeletal disorder characterized by shoulder pain, reduced range of motion, and functional limitations, negatively affecting quality of life. Participants diagnosed with SAIS will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: a supervised rehabilitation group, a home exercise group, or a control group. Randomization will be performed using an online randomization tool. Individuals in the supervised rehabilitation group will receive a structured physiotherapy program administered by a physiotherapist, while those in the home exercise group will perform a standardized exercise program at home following initial instruction. Participants in the control group will not receive any intervention during the study period and will be assessed only. Outcome measures including pain intensity, upper extremity function, range of motion, grip strength, sleep quality, and quality of life will be evaluated at baseline and after the intervention period. The results of this study are expected to provide evidence regarding the comparative effectiveness of supervised and home-based exercise approaches in the management of SAIS.

"Effectiveness of a Telerehabilitation Program Versus a Conventional Rehabilitation Program in Patients With Subacromial Pain"

The purpose of this prospective, randomized, parallel-group, single-center, controlled non-inferiority clinical trial is to determine whether a telerehabilitation program is non-inferior to a conventional rehabilitation program in patients with subacromial pain. Subacromial pain is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition, and while therapeutic exercise is the cornerstone of conservative management, adherence to home programs is often low. Conversely, conventional in-person physical therapy presents logistical and economic barriers for patients. This study aims to evaluate if a well-designed telerehabilitation program, utilizing information and communication technologies for remote monitoring, can provide an effective, accessible, and non-inferior alternative to conventional care. The primary outcome measured will be the change in shoulder function utilizing the QuickDASH questionnaire at 12 weeks. Secondary outcomes will assess pain intensity (VAS), range of motion (ROM), treatment adherence, and long-term functional outcomes.

Neuropathic Pain, Catastrophizing, and Adherence in SAIS

Subacromial impingement syndrome is one of the most common causes of shoulder pain and may negatively affect daily activities and quality of life. While shoulder pain is usually considered nociceptive, some patients may also have a neuropathic pain component, which can influence symptom severity and treatment outcomes. In addition, psychological factors such as pain catastrophizing and adherence-related behavior may play an important role in recovery. This prospective observational study aims to evaluate the presence of neuropathic pain in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome and to investigate its relationship with pain catastrophizing and adherence-related behavior. Patients undergoing a standard physical therapy program will be assessed at the beginning and after completion of treatment using validated clinical scales. The findings of this study may help to better understand the interaction between pain characteristics, psychological factors, and adherence-related behavior, and contribute to the development of more individualized rehabilitation strategies

Effects of Myofascial Chain Tension Modulation Combined With Scapular Corrective Exercise on Scapular Movement Performance and Functional Outcomes in Tennis Players With Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

Subacromial Impingement Syndrome (SIS) is characterized by abnormal scapular motion, including decreased upward rotation, increased internal rotation, and excessive anterior tilting, which impair shoulder and arm function. Integrated scapular rehabilitation combines Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) and postural correction exercises. IASTM detects soft tissue restrictions through multidirectional strokes and enhances the pain threshold of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) via reflex hyperemia. Postural correction exercises aim to strengthen weakened muscles and stretch tight ones to improve stability and posture. The combination of these interventions may enhance scapular stability and dynamic control. This study aimed to investigate the effects of integrated scapular rehabilitation on scapular kinematics, movement correction, functional improvement, and pain management in tennis athletes with SIS. A two-way repeated-measures ANOVA was used to analyze pre- and post-intervention effects.

Effects of KT and Scapular Stabilization Exercises.

The distance between the acromion bone and the head of the humerus narrows in subacromial impingement syndrome. This narrowing leads to the compression of sensitive structures and results in pain and decreased functional performance.While taping and scapular stabilizing exercises are commonly used in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome, no comparisons were conducted previously between their effectiveness. This randomized clinical trial will be conducted at Punjab Sports Board, Lahore.This study will include patients with age group ≥18 years; pain located on the anterolateral side of the shoulder for ≥3 months with positive clinical signs. Magnetic Resonance Imaging Parameters in Patients with Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

Shoulder pain is the third most common musculoskeletal pain complaint in the world with an incidence of 7-30%. Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) is the most common cause of shoulder pain. Imaging in impingement syndrome is usually based on different imaging modalities. X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound are the most commonly used, and MRI is considered by many authors to be the most reliable imaging modality for evaluation of the rotator cuff because it allows evaluation of soft tissues as well as bony abnormalities such as subacromial osteophytes and acromioclavicular joint capsular hypertrophy. MRI allows the diagnosis of rotator cuff tears with greater interobserver reliability than ultrasound in assessing tear size, retraction and atrophy. Few studies have investigated the impact of pathologic findings on MRI on the degree of symptoms and functional impairment seen in these patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between shoulder pain and function and MRI findings in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome.

Shoulder and Neck Mobilization in Patients With Subacromial Impingement Syndrome

Patients who come to Tavşanlı State Hospital's Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Department and have been diagnosed with subacromial impingement syndrome by a physician will be included. Patients will be selected by randomization method among the patients determined by the physician to receive conservative treatment, shoulder mobilization in addition to conservative treatment, and neck mobilization treatment program in addition to these. Conventional treatments such as hot packs, TENS, ultrasound, and exercise will be given to all patients by the hospital staff. Pain intensity will be evaluated with VAS. Additionally, painful arch and pain-free joint range of motion evaluation will be made using a goniometer. The DASH questionnaire will be used to evaluate shoulder functionality. Sensory evaluation will be made with pressure pain threshold and two-point discrimination tests. Measurements will be made before the intervention and repeated after 3 weeks of intervention.

Subacromial Impingement Syndrome Functional Tests Correlation With Ultrasound Parameters

In this study, among the patients who applied to the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation outpatient clinic of Muğla Training and Research Hospital and were diagnosed with subacromial impingement by anamnesis and clinical tests, inclusion criteria) and exclusion criteria will be included in the study. Demographic data of the patients will then be recorded. DASH (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and Constant Murley scores will be calculated. 4 years of musculoskeletal ultrasound experience will be recorded by a radiologist using ultrasound (Siemens® V8, LA2-14A probe) in modified Crass position (positioning with the palm of the examined side on the posterior iliac wing) by measuring subacromial bursa thickness, supraspinatus tendon thickness, acromiohumeral distance, supraspinatus tendon thickness/acromiohumeral distance ratio. Demographic data of the patients will then be recorded. DASH (Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand) and Constant Murley scores will be calculated.
