Incidence of Dysgeusia in Breast Cancer Patients Undergoing Chemotherapy

The goal of this observational study is to examine how frequently changes in taste occur in people with early-stage breast cancer who receive chemotherapy. It will also look at how these taste changes affect nutrition and quality of life. The main questions this study aims to answer are: * How many participants develop changes in taste during chemotherapy? * How do these changes affect eating habits, nutrition, and daily life? Participants are women with non-metastatic breast cancer who are receiving chemotherapy before or after surgery. Researchers will use standardized taste tests to measure how well participants can perceive different flavors. These tests are designed to provide accurate and reproducible results. Participants will: * Take part in taste tests during their chemotherapy treatment * Have their nutritional status evaluated * Answer questions about their quality of life

Prospective Registery of Smell/Taste Clinic Ear/Nose/Throat

Smell/taste disorders are common conditions with a significant impact on quality of life. In September 2021, a specific consultation for patients with smell and taste disorders was initiated at the ENT-HNS (ear, nose, and throat, head and neck surgery) department of UZ Leuven, partly in light of post-COVID-19 related smell disorders. With this observational ambidirectional study, the investigators aim to better map smell/taste disorders in the Belgian/Flemish population. Using standard-of-care diagnostic tests and structured questionnaires, the investigators strive to gain more insight into the severity, impact, and progression/prognosis of smell/taste disorders.

Gustabor Phase 1 - AI-based Creation of a Nutritional Plan to Compensate for Chemotherapy-induced Taste Disorders

The study investigates taste disorders that commonly occur during or after cancer treatment, often leading to issues such as malnutrition and treatment discontinuation. Although many non-pharmacological recommendations exist, it is unclear which methods are suitable for which individuals. This pilot study aims to use an AI-based, or rule-driven system to generate personalized recommendations based on patients' specific impairments and taste disorder. For the pilot study, the AI will be trained on recipes to create individualized meal plans, helping to identify foods that are likely to be better. The primary endpoint is the assessment of the nutritional intervention as helpful at the second visit within 12 weeks of inclusion.
