Pediatric Airway: Noninferiority Trial of Devices for Intubation Assessment

The goal of this clinical trial is to find out whether the BESDATA BD-DF videolaryngoscope works as well as the McGRATH™ MAC videolaryngoscope for placing a breathing tube in infants during surgery. The study will also compare the costs associated with using each device. The main questions this study aims to answer are: Is the BESDATA BD-DF videolaryngoscope as effective as the McGRATH™ MAC videolaryngoscope for successful placement of a breathing tube on the first attempt in infants? Are there differences between the two devices in terms of procedure time, number of attempts, airway-related complications, and overall costs? Researchers will compare infants who are intubated using the BESDATA BD-DF videolaryngoscope with infants who are intubated using the McGRATH™ MAC videolaryngoscope to see whether the two devices perform similarly and whether one is more cost-effective than the other. Participants will: Be randomly assigned to have a breathing tube placed using one of the two videolaryngoscopes; Receive standard general anesthesia for an elective surgical procedure; Have information collected during and after the procedure to assess safety, effectiveness, and costs.

Comparative Study Between Combined Video Laryngoscope and Video Stylet Intubation Versus Combined Video Laryngoscope and Fiberoptic Intubation in a Simulated Difficult Airway

This study titled "Comparative Study Between Combined Video Laryngoscope and Video Stylet Intubation Versus Combined Video Laryngoscope and Fibreoptic Intubation in a Simulated Difficult Airway" aims to evaluate and compare two advanced intubation techniques used in managing difficult airways. Currently, there is no study in Malaysia that compares the combination of a video laryngoscope (VL) with a video stylet (VS) and the combination of VL with a fibreoptic bronchoscope (FOB). Although both methods have been investigated separately, direct comparisons in simulated difficult airway settings are limited. The findings of this study will help guide airway management protocols and improve clinical outcomes in challenging airway situations. This is a single-centre, randomized comparative crossover trial conducted at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, HCTM, UKM. Ethical approval will be obtained from the departmental and university ethics committees prior to commencement. The study population will consist of anaesthesiology medical officers with at least two years of experience and anaesthesiology trainees in their second to fourth year of training at HCTM, UKM. Participants with severe hand tremors or those who decline participation will be excluded. The main objectives are to compare the first-pass intubation success rate, time to successful intubation, and operator-rated ease of intubation between the two combined techniques. Each participant will perform both VL with VS and VL with FOB intubations in a simulated difficult airway scenario. The study hypothesizes that the combined VL with VS technique will provide superior performance, a higher first-pass success rate, shorter intubation time, and greater ease of use compared to the VL with FOB technique. Participants who fail to complete all procedures or withdraw after participation will be considered dropouts. The results from this study are expected to provide useful insights into the effectiveness and practicality of these two combination techniques for airway management training and clinical application.

Tracheal Tube Cuff Inflation-Deflation Method for Video Assisted Laryngoscope Nasal Intubation in Adults

The goal of this clinical trial is to compare cuff inflation deflation method versus conventional method using Magill forceps in adult patients scheduled for elective surgery dental or maxillofacial that need nasal intubation. The study question: Is cuff inflation deflation method for nasal intubation takes a short time than the conventional method using Magill forceps in adult patients scheduled for elective surgery dental or maxillofacial? We will compare the inflation deflation technique with the Magill forceps technique for nasal intubation in adult patients to see if the inflation deflation technique will take less time and associated with less side effects like cuff perforation and mucosal injury. C-MAC Blade D Video Vs Macintosh Laryngoscope for Double Lumen Tube Insertion

The goal of this clinical trial is to know which type of laryngoscope is better for Double Lumen Tube (DLT) insertion, in participants undergoing elective thoracic surgeries. The main question aim to answer is Is C-MAC blade D video laryngoscope better than Macintosh laryngoscope for DLT insertion in term of time taking for intubation and hemodynamic changes to laryngoscopy? Researchers are comparing two groups of participants * Participants in Group A are receiving intubation from C-MAC blade D video laryngoscope. * Participants in Group B are receiving intubations from Macintosh laryngoscope.

Comparison of Airtraq in Class 2-3 Obese and Nonobese Men During Intubation: a Prospective Randomized Clinical Study

Morbid obesity is a growing disease. Intubations of these patients mostly difficult. Video laryngoscopes have to be used during the intubation of these patients. The intubation of men is more complicated and difficult than obese women. There were no trials compared to the new video laryngoscopes in morbidly obese men. Patients will be divided into two groups; non-obese and klas 2-3 obese. Airtraq will be used for their intubation. The time for intubation will be the primary aim of this prospective randomized study. The insertion time, perioperative hemodynamic variables, and postoperative complications will also be recorded.
