Effects of Semantic Context on Criterion-learning Naming Treatment in Aphasia

Aphasia is a disorder of spoken and written language, most commonly following a stroke. It is estimated that between 2.5 and 4 million Americans are living with aphasia today. A common problem in aphasia involves difficulty retrieving known words in the course of language production and comprehension. The overarching goal of this project is to develop and test early efficacy, efficiency, and the tolerability of a lexical treatment for aphasia in multiple-session regimens that are comprised of retrieval practice, distributed practice, and training dedicated to the elicitation of correct retrievals. The aim of this work is to add to and refine the evidence base for the implementation and optimization of these elements in the treatment of production and comprehension deficits in aphasia, and make important steps towards an ultimate goal of self-administered lexical treatment grounded in retrieval practice principles (RPP) to supplement traditional speech-language therapy that is appropriate for People with Aphasia (PWA) from a broad level of severity of lexical processing deficit in naming and/or comprehension. This project cumulatively builds on prior work to develop a theory of learning for lexical processing impairment in aphasia that aims to ultimately explain why and for whom familiar lexical treatments work, and how to maximize the benefits they confer.

Efficacy and Mechanisms of Virtual Reality Treatment of Phantom Leg Pain.Home-Based Treatment

After amputation of an arm or leg, up to 90% of subjects experience a "phantom limb", a phenomenon characterized by persistent feelings of the missing limb. Many subjects with a phantom limb experience intense pain in the missing extremity that is often poorly responsive to medications or other interventions. The study will explore the feasibility and efficacy of a home-based, active VR treatment for phantom limb pain (PLP).

Unlocking Movement Potential: Enhancing Parkinson's Disease Treatment With Robotic EksoSkeleton

The goal of this study is to see how well therapy with the Eksobionic Exoskeleton (Esko) works for people with Parkinson's disease (PWPD). Esko is a robotic device that provides high repetition and intensity training. The investigators will examine its impact on walking, balance, and quality of life before, during and after an eight-week intervention program. The results will lay the groundwork for future trials, potentially leading to long-term improvements in mobility and quality of life for PWPD.

GetUp&Go: A Randomized Controlled Trial of an Intervention to Enhance Physical Activity After TBI

The goal of this clinical trial is to evaluate GetUp\&Go, a program for promoting increased physical activity in individuals at least 6 months post moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury. GetUp\&Go is a remotely delivered 10-week program that includes one-on-one sessions with a therapist and a mobile health application (RehaBot). The main question is whether participants in the 10-week GetUp\&Go program increase their physical activity, and exhibit associated benefits in mental and physical health, relative to those who are put on a waitlist. * Question 1: Do participants who receive immediate treatment with GetUp\&Go show more increased physical activity, measured by accelerometer activity counts per day, and improve more on secondary outcomes, such as self-reported physical activity, emotional function, fatigue, sleep, pain, and health-related quality of life, compared to their baseline, relative to those who are put on a waitlist? * Question 2: Do participants who have continued access to the mobile health component of the intervention, RehaBot, show better maintenance of physical activity gains compared to those who no longer have access to RehaBot? * Question 3: Are individual participant characteristics associated with participants' response to the treatment program?
