Comparing the Effects of Smart App-Assited Super-Slow Jogging and Stationary Cycling on Respiratory Function and Aerobic Fitness in College Students

As health awareness continues to rise, more people are prioritizing exercise to improve physical condition and enhance overall fitness. For those lacking exercise habits, selecting a simple, accessible, and effective workout becomes crucial. Against a backdrop of prolonged sitting and inactivity, "super slow jogging" is gaining attention. This aerobic exercise involves a slow walking pace and low intensity, yet burns more calories than regular walking, making it an ideal entry-level activity for beginners or those with lower fitness levels. This study aims to investigate whether incorporating super slow jogging training can effectively enhance cardiorespiratory fitness and respiratory function, comparing its outcomes with other exercise types. The purpose of this experiment is academic research, primarily exploring the impact of exercise intervention on physiological functions. It is not intended for health screening or medical diagnosis.

NMES With PNF for Ankle Sprain Rehabilitation

Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports injuries. In some people, they can lead to chronic ankle problems that affect daily life and sports performance. In this study, we want to see if combining neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) can help improve these problems. We plan to recruit 60 participants, with 30 in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. The experimental group will receive PNF stretching with NMES, while the control group will only do PNF stretching. Both groups will have training three times a week for four weeks (12 sessions in total). We will test participants before and after the program, looking at pain, balance, range of motion, proprioception, strength, joint mobility, and functional limitations. We expect that 12 sessions will help improve chronic ankle problems, and that NMES combined with PNF will be more effective than PNF alone.

Effects of Kinesio Taping in Subacute Stroke Patients

A study was designed to investigate the effects of KT on gait ability, balance, and neuromuscular functions in subacute stroke patients with foot drop. The study aims to evaluate the immediate and short-term effects of KT on gait ability, balance, and neuromuscular function in subacute stroke patients with foot drop. A total of 60 participants will be recruited and randomly assigned to either a control group (conventional physical therapy) or an experimental group (receiving additional KT). Both groups will receive 30 minutes of daily physical therapy. The experimental group will undergo an initial assessment before KT application, which includes (1) activation of the dorsiflexor muscles, (2) reduction of plantar flexor spasticity, and (3) stabilization of the ankle in an everted position. After taping, a second assessment will be conducted immediately, and the tape will stay applied to patient's limb for two days, followed by a third assessment. The control group will be assessed only before the intervention and after two days. Primary outcome measures include gait ability (10-meter walk test, laboratory gait parameters, and joint angles and electromyographic activity during walking). Secondary outcomes include balance (Functional reach test, Timed Up and Go test, and Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale) and neuromuscular function assessments (muscle strength, joint range of motion, spasticity, and proprioception). This project aims to establish and validate a clinically applicable and effective KT protocol as an adjunctive gait training method for subacute stroke patients with foot drop. By enhancing independent and safe walking, this intervention may facilitate the early return to normal daily activities for stroke survivors.
