Comparison of Ferrous Salt vs. Liposomal Iron in Adult Women With Iron-Deficiency Anemia

The goal of this study is to compare ferrous salt and liposomal iron for the treatment of iron-deficiency anemia in adult women. The study will also evaluate how well each treatment is tolerated. The main questions this study aims to answer are: Does liposomal iron increase hemoglobin levels as effectively as ferrous salt? Are there differences in side effects, especially gastrointestinal symptoms, between the treatments? Does dosing ferrous salt every other day improve tolerance compared to daily dosing? Researchers will compare three oral iron treatment strategies to determine which approach provides the best balance between effectiveness and tolerability. Participants will: Be adult women diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia Be randomly assigned to one of three groups: Daily ferrous salt Ferrous salt taken every other day Daily liposomal iron Take the assigned iron treatment for 3 months Have blood tests at the beginning and end of the study to measure hemoglobin and iron levels Report any side effects or intolerance during treatment

Efficacy of Dose-Adjusted Regimen on Survival in Frail Adults With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is characterized by the abnormal proliferation of immature precursor cells, disrupting normal hematopoiesis and causing severe anemia and thrombocytopenia due to genetic mutations. Conventional treatment with intensive chemotherapy is limited for elderly patients or those with comorbidities, adversely affecting their survival. In Mexico, alongside a higher incidence, treatment-related complications are more frequent, particularly with drugs such as asparaginase or anthracyclines, which limits therapeutic efficacy. The transition to infusion-based therapies promises to reduce these complications, improve treatment tolerance, and optimize clinical outcomes, marking a significant advancement in the management of this disease. Modifying treatment regimens toward infusion therapies has the potential to significantly reduce adverse complications, enhance treatment tolerance, and ultimately improve clinical outcomes for patients who cannot benefit from conventional intensive regimens. This approach not only aims to optimize treatment effectiveness but also to minimize associated risks, thus representing an important advancement in the management of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in clinical settings such as those in Mexico

Diagnostic Performance of Controlling Nutritional Status as a Nutritional Screening Tool in Patients With Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The objective of this observational study is to determine the diagnostic performance of CONUT as a nutritional screening tool in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. The main questions to be answered are: What is the sensitivity and specificity of CONUT as a nutritional screening tool in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease? The participants will: Undergo body composition analysis and a medical history review to understand the characteristics of their current condition, apply the GLIM criteria, and conduct their nutritional assessment.

Effect of Clinical and Biochemical Variables Over Morbidity and Mortality in Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome Patients

The goal of this observational study is to describe the impact measured through the Odds Ratio (OR) of different variables of clinical and biochemical alterations on the duration of the syndrome alcohol withdrawal patients measured in days of symptoms and stay; it could include any patients with a diagnosis of admission of alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) who have been treated in the department of Internal Medicine for 5 years. The main question it aims to answer is: What is the relationship between the different clinical, biochemical, and hematic factors on the duration of symptoms, morbidity, and mortality in individuals with alcohol syndrome withdrawal? • If the patient has a greater number of risk factors, such as advanced age, a long and chronic history of alcohol consumption, the type of distillate consumed, as well as the deterioration of liver function and presence of leukocytosis and neutrophilia, then it is postulated that the duration of alcohol withdrawal syndrome will be longer. Clinical records will be used to describe the proportion of complications associated with alcohol withdrawal syndrome including pneumonia bronchial aspiration, seizures, need for mechanical ventilation, digestive tract hemorrhage, toxic-alcoholic hepatitis, and pancreatitis.
