How Often Does the Fecal Test for Occult Blood Turn Positive After Using Blood Thinners?

Blood thinner medications used for cardiovascular disease can cause gastrointestinal bleeding. Early detection of invisible bleeding by performing occult fecal blood test (called fecal immunochemical test, or FIT) can uncover serious disease in the stomach and intestine and enable the treating physician to refer the patient for further evaluation.

Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Middle Eastern Patients With Stroke

Stroke is a well-known a leading cause of death and disability in the Middle East. There remain many knowledge gaps in evaluating the prevalence of risk factors among patients with stroke in the Middle East. Unravelling the impact of these risk factors and controlling them can positively lower the incidence of stroke. Disparities in stroke risk factors, may well be related to ethnicity of the Middle Eastern populations , will be compared with those among stroke patients in the western literature.

Incidental Findings on Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography

Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is increasingly used for ischemic heart disease diagnosis. The rising number of CCTA tests has led to a significant increase in the number of finding unexpected incidental extracardiac diseases.

The Cardiovascular-Renal-Metabolic (CRM) Syndrome Survey in Jordan

Cardiovascular-renal-metabolic (CRM) syndrome is defined as a systemic disorder with a collection of related signs and symptoms attributable to the coexistence of multiple cardiovascular, renal and metabolic disease with a common underlying pathophysiology in one individual. Surveying this syndrome in a large population in Jordan aims at studying the risk factors, components and stages of the syndrome, thus helping early screening, diagnosing and treating disease and its risk factors.

Clinical Association Between Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Facial Pigmentation, and Vasovagal Symptoms.

The goal of this prospective cohort study is to study patients referred for sleep study by in-lab polysomnography in the Jordan University Hospital and the Jordan Hospital or with an at-home sleep study kit. The main aims are: * To prospectively obtain demographic and clinical information of patients referred for a sleep study. * To determine the diagnostic value of facial discoloration as potential marker for obstructive sleep apnea to increase detection rate for the condition. * To establish a correlation between obstructive sleep apnea and vasovagal symptoms with resulting increased smoking tendency and study the effect of treatment on the disorders. * To determine the association between timing of appearance of obstructive sleep apnea symptoms and initiation of smoking.
