Evaluation of the Anterior Tibialis Tendon Using Elastography in Patients With Hallux Valgus

To elucidate the relationship between changes in the mechanical properties of the tibialis anterior tendon and deformity in patients with hallux valgus, a case-control study is planned to quantitatively measure tendon stiffness using shear-wave elastography (SWE). Two groups will be compared: adults with radiographically confirmed hallux valgus (HVA (Hallux valgus angle) ≥15°) and age- and gender-matched healthy controls. The primary outcome is the elasticity modulus of the tibialis anterior tendon measured by SWE (kPa). Measurements will be performed using a high-frequency linear probe, with the probe positioned parallel to the tendon fibers and the foot in the standard ankle position, with three repetitions performed on each subject; the mean of stable frames will be used in the analysis. Secondary variables will be the relationships between tendon thickness/cross-sectional area, clinical angle parameters (HVA, IMA (intermetatarsal angle)), and functional scores. In the reliability sub-study, intra- and inter-observer ICC (Intraclass Correlation Coefficient), SEM (Standard Error of Measurement), and MDC (Minimal Detectable Change) will be calculated. The sample size was calculated for a two-sample, two-tailed t-test with α=0.05 and 80% power assumptions, targeting a clinically meaningful medium-to-high effect size (Cohen d=0.60); at least 45 patients (45 with hallux valgus + 45 healthy) were planned. Parametric/non-parametric tests appropriate for the distribution and ANCOVA for potential confounders (age, gender, BMI, foot dominance) will be used in the analyses. The study is expected to objectively demonstrate whether tibialis anterior tendon stiffness changes in hallux valgus, thereby clarifying the muscle-tendon contributions to pathomechanics and laying the groundwork for targeted strategies in both conservative and surgical treatment planning.

Can Nursing Students' Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Climate Change

Climate change is a major global problem threatening individual health, public health, and health systems. Climate change poses a significant global threat to social and environmental health determinants, such as the disruption of food systems, the spread of climate-sensitive diseases, and the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that climate change will cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths annually from malaria, diarrhea, malnutrition, and heat stress between 2030 and 2050. In this context, nursing students, as future healthcare providers, need to be prepared and knowledgeable about global warming, climate change and its impacts on health, climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience, and the promotion of a healthy environment for a sustainable future. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the effects of climate change education on nursing students' knowledge and attitudes regarding climate change and health.

Investıgatıon Of The Effectıveness Of The Mollıı Suıt In Chıldren Wıth Ambulatory Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral Palsy (CP) is the most common developmental disorder in childhood. Individuals' independence in daily living activities and participation in education, games, social and community activities are restricted. Technology applications in the field of rehabilitation are gaining momentum. EXOPULSE Mollii Suit method, one of the newest rehabilitation technology products, is a non-invasive neuromodulation approach with a garment that covers the whole body and electrodes placed inside. Designed to improve motor function by reducing spasticity and pain, the method is based on the principle of reciprocal inhibition, which occurs by stimulating the antagonist of a spastic muscle at low frequencies and intensities. Therefore, the aim of our study is to examine the effectiveness of the Mollii Suit application on gross and fine motor function, spasticity severity, balance, walking, selective motor control, postural control, daily living activities, quality of life, pain and sleep quality in individuals with ambulatory spastic CP.

The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Death Psychoeducation Program on Death Awareness and Death Anxiety Levels in Nurses

Nurses are the primary caregivers for individuals who experience difficult situations (disease, loss, etc.) or are in the terminal phase. This may cause nurses to be exposed to the same experiences secondarily. Coming face to face with death can be a traumatic experience for individuals. Whether death is a traumatic experience for nurses may vary depending on individual differences and environmental conditions. Factors affecting nurses in this sense include the unit they work in, death anxiety, death awareness, workload, and sociodemographic characteristics. Studies conducted with nurses indicate that nurses' death anxiety varies depending on the unit and other factors, and that nurses need training for death awareness and the right approach to individuals. A study conducted on death education and grief counseling determined that individuals' participation in death education does not always help them cope with death and grief, but that individuals can be significantly helped in the face of death and loss if individual differences in coping with grief are focused on and helping skills are developed. It is thought that the awareness-based death-themed psychoeducation program to be applied to nurses in line with their educational needs will increase nurses' death awareness and reduce their death anxiety levels. The nurses working at Kastamonu Education and Research Hospital will constitute the universe of the study. The research will be conducted with nurses in a pre-test-post-test, experimental and control group experimental design. A power analysis will be conducted to determine the number of people to be included in the sample. It will be calculated with G\*Power 3.1 program. In the sample calculation, effect size (d=1.1), 5% margin of error (α=0.05) and power (1-β=0.95) were taken into account and 30 people were needed in the groups, 15 experimental and 15 control. However, considering the data loss, the sample size for each group was increased by 20% and it was planned to include 18 people in each group, a total of 36 people in the sample. In addition to descriptive statistical methods (Mean, Standard deviation) in the evaluation of the data, correlation test will be used to evaluate the relationship between the mean scores before and after the education in the comparison of quantitative data. Wilcoxon Associated Sample Test will be used to make comparisons before and after the education. ''Nurses Descriptive Information Form'', ''Multidimensional Death Awareness Scale'' and ''Thorson Powell Death Anxiety Scale'' will be used in the collection of data. A mindfulness-based psychoeducation program will be applied to the experimental group. The aim of the psychoeducation is to reduce the death anxiety of the nurses and to increase their awareness of death by providing them with information about the death experience they are secondarily exposed to (1- Death process and death anxiety, 2- Effects of the death process on the individual and family, 3- Coping with the death process, 4- Effects of the death process on caregiving nurses, 5- Awareness of death, 6- Nursing care and emotional competence during the death process). Therefore, it will be evaluated whether the applied psychoeducation program reduces the intended death anxiety and creates awareness about death. This study will be conducted to examine the effect of a 6-week, 12-session mindfulness-based group psychoeducation program given to nurses on death anxiety and death awareness levels.

The Effect of Mindfulness-Based Psychoeducation Programme Given Individually to Schizophrenia Patients on Internalised Stigma and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours

Schizophrenia is a chronic, recurrent and disabling illness that usually lasts a lifetime and causes serious problems in quality of life and functioning. Psychoeducation programmes added to drug treatment in the treatment of schizophrenia have been shown to increase the knowledge of patients and their relatives about the disease, coping skills, prevention of exacerbations and relapses of the disease, social functioning, insight into the disease, compliance with drug treatment and quality of life. Rehabilitated individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia who are registered and continuing at Kastamonu Training and Research Community Mental Health Centre will constitute the population, and individuals who continue between April 2024 and May 2024 will constitute the sample. The research will be conducted with schizophrenic patients in a pre-test-post-test, experimental and control group experimental design. Power analysis will be performed to determine the number of people to be sampled and calculated with the G\*Power 3.1 programme. 40 people will be reached in the groups, 20 people in the experimental group and 20 people in the control group. In the evaluation of the data, descriptive statistical methods (Mean, Standard deviation) as well as the correlation test will be used to evaluate the relationship between the average scores before and after the training in the comparison of quantitative data. Wilcoxon related sample test will be used to make comparisons before and after the training. Personal Information Form, Internalised Stigma Scale in Mental Illness (ISIS) and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviours (HBSB) scale will be used to collect the data. Awareness-based psychoeducation programme will be applied to the experimental group. The aim of psychoeducation is to create a change in knowledge and behaviour towards healthy lifestyle behaviours (1- Self-actualisation, 2- Health responsibility, 3- Exercise, 4- Nutrition, 5- Interpersonal support, 6- Stress management) by reducing internalised stigma. Therefore, it will be evaluated whether the applied psychoeducation programme creates the intended change in knowledge and behaviour. This study will be conducted to examine the effect of a 6-week 12-session self-awareness-based psychoeducation programme given to schizophrenia patients on internalised stigma and healthy lifestyle behaviours. In this study, schizophrenic patients will be provided with regular psychoeducation to provide individual support, to ensure the development of coping skills for self-protection, and to gain knowledge and skills to gain a healthy lifestyle. After the prepared psychoeducation, a training guide will be created for the participants and will be given after the training, thus ensuring continuity of education.
