Exercise as Medicine: A Non-Pharmacological Approach to Menopausal Symptoms

The aim of this clinical trial is to evaluate the effects of different forms of physical exercise in women experiencing menopausal symptoms. Specifically, the project investigates the effects of: (1) strength training on women's perceived menopausal symptoms; (2) dance-based exercise on women's perceived menopausal symptoms; and (3) adherence to structured, digital home-based exercise programs. The following research questions will be addressed within the framework of the project: Does regular strength training reduce women's perceived menopausal symptoms? To what extent does strength training influence menopausal symptoms and sleep quality in women? What is the level of adherence to a digital, home-based strength training program among women with menopausal symptoms? Does regular dance-based physical activity reduce women's perceived menopausal symptoms? To what extent does dance-based physical activity influence menopausal symptoms and sleep quality in women? What is the level of adherence to a digital, home-based dance exercise program among women with menopausal symptoms? Which exercise protocol-strength training or dance-based exercise-has the greatest effect on perceived menopausal symptoms? The researchers will compare a digital, home-based strength training program with a digital, home-based dance exercise program, as well as with a control group, to determine which type of exercise has the greatest effect on menopausal symptoms and sleep quality. Participants will: Perform either dance-based exercise or strength training for 8 weeks, three times per week, following a structured program of approximately 30 minutes per session, or participate as part of the control group. Complete validated questionnaires assessing menopausal health, including somatic, psychological, and sexual symptoms, as well as perceived quality of life and sleep quality, both before and after the intervention. Maintain a training diary to monitor adherence and progression, including increases in training intensity

A Cluster-randomized Control Trial of PAX Good Behavior Game in Swedish Elementary Schools

Two important challenges that primary school in Sweden is confronted by are increasing levels of mental illness among children and adolescents and increasing rates of stress related symptoms and sick leave associated with mental illness in primary school teachers. Primary school is an important arena to address these issues. PAX is implemented as a part of the regular classroom activities and gives the teacher tools to promote behaviors that are constructive and learning oriented. The programme has been shown to improve student health and performance both short- and long-term. The teachers also receive tools to lessen stressors in their working environment. A Swedish uncontrolled pilot study showed increased well-being in children and reduced teacher stress as well as improved work related well-being at post-intervention. The aim of this project is to study the effects of PAX on student well-being and teacher stress. In a cluster-randomized design, 84 teachers from 28 schools (clusters) will be randomized to either implement PAX, or to an active control group that receives the same amount of support but with different content. The PAX group will get a two-day education in PAX at the start of the term, followed by an implementation-term. The measurements include self-assessment, blind observer assessments, objectively measuring sound levels, data on sick leave and qualitative interviews. Baseline measurements are performed before implementation and primary end point is one year after. Costs and savings related to PAX will be measured and put in relation to the quality-adjusted life years of students and teachers. Long-term effects on student performance, health and participation in society will be evaluated in a follow-up project.

Evaluation of Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) With the Addition of Self-help CBT - A Randomized Multicenter Trial

In this multicenter study, the investigators want to find out if an addition of an diagnostic assessment and possibility of treatment with guided self-help CBT can increase the treatment effects of PCBH on patient functioning and symptoms, compared to standard PCBH which uses contextual assessment and brief interventions. In addition to this, the study will investigate the overall effect of PCBH on both patient and organisation level outcomes.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Adolescents and Young Adults

The purpose of the project is to study the effectiveness of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) for adolescents with depression. Specific aims are to analyze the effects, change mechanisms, predictors, and implementation of IPT for youth. In this four-year project we will include 60 patients with depression. Outcome will be studied using a quasi-experimental multiple-baseline design. Change mechanisms will be studied in the form of mentalizing, emotion regulation, social support, and working alliance session-by-session, and with post-treatment qualitative interviews about the participants' experiences of change. Predictors of effectiveness of IPT for adolescents will be explored by measuring severity of symptoms, anxiety symptoms, presence and severity of parent-child conflicts, quality of interpersonal relationships, experiences of bullying, and school functioning. The implementation process of IPT for youth will be studied through interviews with adolescents, parents, therapists, co-workers, and local managers. The study is conducted within child and adolescent psychiatric services in Norrköping using a practice-oriented research strategy which emphasizes close collaboration with clinicians. The project is a collaboration between researchers at Linnaeus University and Linköping University, and clinicians at BUP Norrköping.

Operation ACL: Rehabilitation After Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Scientific Research Question Overall Purpose: Regarding rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), there is a knowledge gap - a lack of evidence. Important questions such as how rehabilitation should be structured, what it should include, and how it should be evaluated are currently not clear. Therefore, the investigators plan to conduct a two-year follow-up randomized controlled trial (RCT) on post-ACLR rehabilitation. Moreover, detailed information on how/under what circumstances the ACL injury occurred is not satisfactorily described in the literature. Therefore, the investigators are planning a new survey that can identify, explain, and prevent the risk factors causing a person to suffer from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Specific Objectives: How should guidelines for rehabilitation after ACLR be structured, what should they include, and how should they be evaluated to best restore knee function in the patient? Can a detailed and comprehensive survey identify, explain, and prevent the risk factors causing a person to suffer from an ACL injury?
