The Effect of Virtual Reality-Based Intervention on Anxiety, Stress, and Pain in Women Undergoing Colposcopy: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Due to its invasive nature, the colposcopy procedure can cause high levels of anxiety, stress, pain, and nausea in women. The uncertainty surrounding the condition to be diagnosed, combined with the discomfort caused by the procedure itself, creates significant psychological stress in women and can negatively impact their compliance with diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, it is believed that applying Virtual Reality (VR) technology-one of the distraction techniques-as a non-pharmacological method for women undergoing colposcopy could be effective in reducing pain and anxiety by diverting their cognitive attention away from the procedure's negative stimuli. Although there are many studies in the literature using VR technology, no study has been found that examines the effect of VR-based interventions on anxiety, stress, and pain levels in women undergoing colposcopy. Therefore, this study will be one of the first randomized controlled trials to examine the multidimensional effects of virtual reality (anxiety, stress, pain) in women undergoing colposcopy. The findings will contribute to the widespread adoption of non-pharmacological nursing interventions in clinical practice. The aim of this study is to comprehensively evaluate the effect of a virtual reality (VR)-based intervention on anxiety, stress, and pain levels in women undergoing colposcopy and to determine its efficacy compared to standard care.

Foot Reflexology and Acupressure on Gastrointestinal Symptoms

This research was planned to evaluate the effects of foot reflexology and acupressure applications on gastrointestinal symptoms in women going through menopause. Menopause is a period in which a woman experiences profound changes in her physiological, psychological, and social life due to the decrease in estrogen and progesterone hormones. Changes in digestive system functions are particularly common during this period; gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, bloating, heartburn, indigestion, and abdominal pain significantly reduce the quality of life. The scope of the study focuses on investigating the manageability of these symptoms that occur during menopause with reflexology and acupressure, which are complementary and alternative medicine methods. Reflexology is a method based on the assumption that specific points on the soles of the feet are connected to the relevant organs in the body, aiming to increase blood circulation and regulate organ functions. Acupressure, based on Chinese medicine, aims to regulate energy flow and reduce symptoms by applying finger pressure to specific acupuncture points. Both methods are increasingly recommended for symptom management during menopause due to their non-invasive nature, low side effects, and ease of application. This research will be conducted at Osmaniye State Hospital and will be limited to menopausal women who apply to this institution. Participants' demographic characteristics, duration of menopause, health history, and gastrointestinal symptom levels will be assessed using a Demographic Information Form and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS). The application process will be carried out in accordance with standard reflexology and acupressure protocols, and changes in symptoms will be analyzed using pre-test and post-test measurements. The study also aims to reveal the effects of gastrointestinal symptoms experienced during menopause on women's quality of life; This study aims to provide evidence-based data on complementary methods that can be integrated into nursing care, in addition to pharmacological treatments. The limited number of studies in the literature addressing the effects of complementary medicine practices during menopause makes this research unique from both a clinical and academic perspective.

Reducing Fear and Anxiety in Children Through Free Play

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of free play activities fear levels, and parental anxiety experienced before and after surgical intervention in children aged 4-10 years. The research is planned as a randomized controlled trial. The study population consists of children aged 4-10 years and their parents who will undergo planned surgical procedures in the pediatric surgery department of a university hospital. The sample will be selected using a convenience sampling method and will consist of individuals who volunteer to participate in the study. The data collection process in the study was planned in two stages, with experimental and control groups: pre-test and post-test. Tests for both groups will be administered prior to the planned surgical operation. A pre-test for the children and their parents in the experimental group will be administered approximately 2 hours before the surgical procedure, just before the start of the free play intervention. At this stage, baseline data will be obtained by measuring the children's fear and anxiety levels and the parents' anxiety levels. Following this, the children will be given approximately 30 minutes of free play. A post-test will be administered immediately after the play intervention, approximately 45 minutes before surgery. This measurement, along with the effect of free play on the dependent variables, will be used to evaluate the results. In the control group, no intervention will be applied, and routine procedures will continue. This group will also be assessed with a pre-test approximately 2 hours before surgery and a post-test approximately 30-60 minutes before surgery to evaluate their levels of fear and anxiety. This will allow for a comparison of any significant differences between the two groups. This timing aims to assess the children's anxiety and fear during the period when they experience the most intense anxiety and fear before surgery, and to validly measure the effectiveness of free play. Study Population: The study population consists of children aged 4-10 years who will undergo surgical intervention and their parents. Study Sample: The study will include children aged 4-10 years who require surgical intervention and their mothers and/or fathers. Participants will be randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. A review of similar studies in the literature shows that Sert (2023) worked with 70 people (35 experimental, 35 control group). Tuncay and Tüfekçi (2019) completed their research with 60 people, and Scarano et al. with 50 people. Similar to these studies, this study is planned to be completed with 70 people, 35 in the experimental group and 35 in the control group. The hypotheses of the study are: H0.1: Free play has no significant effect on the fear and anxiety levels of children undergoing surgery. H1.1: The pre-operative fear and anxiety levels of children who underwent free play differ significantly from those in the control group. H0.2: Free play has no significant effect on the situational anxiety levels of parents whose children are undergoing surgery. H1.2: Free play has a significant effect on the situational anxiety levels of parents whose children are undergoing surgery. H0.3: There is no significant relationship between the mother's situational anxiety level and the child's fear and anxiety levels. H1.3: There is a significant relationship/difference between the mother's situational anxiety level and the child's fear and anxiety levels.

Effect of TENS on Pain and Symptoms in Primary Dysmenorrhea

The Effect of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on Pain and Menstrual Symptoms in Primary Dysmenorrhea This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in managing pain and alleviating menstrual symptoms in individuals with primary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea is characterized by severe menstrual pain and accompanying symptoms that negatively impact the quality of life and daily functioning. TENS, a non-invasive and drug-free method, is applied to relieve pain by stimulating nerves through electrical impulses. This research evaluates the impact of TENS on both the intensity of menstrual pain and associated symptoms, offering insights into its potential as an alternative or complementary therapeutic approach.

Effect of Light Color Temperature Applied During Breastfeeding on Mother's Stress, Anxiety, Peace and Breastfeeding Motivation

Breastfeeding is an important condition for the health of the mother and the baby, which is the most difficult for mothers after birth. Since it is an important practice for both the mother and the baby, the evaluation and reduction of the mother's stress factors can help the hospital to regulate the lighting of the breastfeeding room. In addition, setting the light color temperature to a more appropriate kelvin can make a positive contribution to the hospital in terms of costs. For this purpose, when researchers look at the literature, we have not come across a randomized controlled study examining the effect of the light color temperature applied during breastfeeding on the mother's stress, anxiety, peace and breastfeeding motivation. Researchers' purpose is to determine the effect of the light color temperature applied during breastfeeding on the mother's stress, anxiety, peace and breastfeeding motivation.

Effect of Light Color on Stress, Anxiety, and Psychological Well-being During Nonstress Test in Pregnant Women at Risk

Purpose of the research: To determine the effect of light color on stress, anxiety, and psychological well-being during the Nonstress Test in at-risk pregnant women. This research was planned as a single-blind randomized controlled experimental type study by comparing separate groups in the form of experiment-placebo control. Data will be collected with the Introductory Information Form, Psychological Well-being Scale, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS/PSS-14), State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The NST device is used to follow up pregnant women in the last 3 months of pregnancy, first monthly, then every two weeks and once a week. In other words, the procedure is routinely performed on every pregnant woman who comes for control. It is a device that shows the well-being of the baby and whether the mother has contractions. It is attached to the pregnant woman's abdominal area and does not cause any harm. It is not an invasive procedure. Pregnant women in the last 3 months of pregnancy who come to have NST for follow-up will be randomly selected and divided into 2 groups. A lamp with adjustable light level with Unit Unit Ut-383 Mini Luxmeter (Light Meter) will be placed in the intervention and control groups and the light level of the lamp will be adjusted to 100 lux. NST will be taken under cold (bluish white) light for the control group and under medium warm white (daylight white) light for the intervention group. Pre-test before the application and post-test after the application will be applied. The application is an invasive application that will not disturb the pregnant woman.
