Oral Lactobacillus Reuteri for Skin Barrier Dysfunction in Obesity

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of oral Lactobacillus reuteri supplementation for treating obesity-induced skin barrier impairment in individuals aged 18-40 with a BMI ≥30. The study focuses on the following questions: Can oral Lactobacillus reuteri supplementation reduce skin barrier damage (measured by transepidermal water loss/TEWL) in obese participants? Does modulation of gut microbiota with Lactobacillus reuteri impact skin barrier function and systemic inflammation? Researchers will compare outcomes across two groups: Intervention Group (Obese): Oral Lactobacillus reuteri capsules. Placebo Control Group (Obese): Oral inactive (heat-killed) Lactobacillus reuteri. Participant Procedures: Take daily oral capsules (Lactobacillus reuteri or inactive strain) for 4 weeks. Undergo non-invasive skin testing (TEWL measurements) at baseline and study completion. Provide stool and samples for analyses. Complete weekly check-ins to report adverse effects (e.g., gastrointestinal discomfort, skin irritation).

Topical Application of Lactobacillus Reuteri for Androgenetic Alopecia

This is a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial designed to evaluate whether topical application of Lactobacillus reuteri can safely and effectively treat androgenetic alopecia. The study is based on the concept that balancing the scalp's microbial community may support hair follicle function. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups receiving either active probiotic solution, inactivated probiotic solution (control for non-viable bacterial effects), a saline placebo, or the standard treatment 5% minoxidil solution for 12 months. Neither participants nor assessing clinicians will know the assigned treatment. The main goal is to measure improvement in hair count per square centimeter after one year. Additional measures include changes in hair thickness and quality. This research seeks to provide high-quality scientific evidence on a new microbiome-targeting approach, offering future patients and healthcare providers insights into a potential alternative or complementary treatment strategy for hair loss.

Topical Application of Engineered Lactobacillus Reuteri With a Zinc Sulfate-Tannic Acid MPN Coating for Acne

A growing body of evidence suggests that the development and progression of acne are closely linked to an imbalance in the skin's microbial community. Compared to healthy skin, the composition and function of the microbiota in acne lesions are significantly altered. This microbial imbalance is believed to drive the formation and recurrence of acne through mechanisms such as triggering abnormal inflammatory responses and compromising the skin barrier. An in-depth exploration of the interaction between acne and the skin microbiome not only offers new perspectives for understanding the root causes of the disease but also lays the groundwork for developing novel treatment strategies aimed at modulating the microbiota. Therefore, identifying innovative approaches that integrate acne treatment with the regulation of microbial balance holds significant clinical and social value. Although existing acne treatments have made progress, research focusing on interventions that regulate the local skin microecology through probiotics remains relatively limited. This study aims to explore a new strategy based on skin microecological modulation. Investigators are using a common probiotic-Lactobacillus reuteri-and applying an engineering modification with a special coating formed by zinc sulfate and tannic acid (MPN coating). This modification is intended to enhance the bacterium's survival and colonization on the skin, thereby more effectively regulating the local microbiota and reducing inflammation. This study is a rigorous scientific clinical trial designed as randomized, double-blind, and controlled. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to one of four groups, receiving either the engineered Lactobacillus reuteri cream, the plain Lactobacillus reuteri cream, a simple moisturizing cream (placebo), or an already-marketed effective cream (tretinoin cream). The treatment will last for 2 weeks, followed by an 8-week observation period. Efficacy and safety will be evaluated through professional assessments. Our goal is to scientifically evaluate the safety and efficacy of this new therapy, hoping to provide a potential new treatment option for individuals with acne and explore new pathways for improving skin health.

Safety and Efficacy of Lactobacillus Plantarum for Psoriasis: A Randomized Double-Blind Placebo-Controlled Trial

A growing body of evidence indicates that the pathogenesis of psoriasis may be closely linked to skin microbiome dysbiosis. Compared with healthy individuals, the composition and function of the skin microbiota in psoriasis patients exhibit significant alterations5,6. This microbial imbalance is thought to contribute to the initiation and progression of the disease through mechanisms such as triggering abnormal immune responses, exacerbating inflammatory processes, and impairing the skin barrier. In-depth exploration of the interplay between psoriasis and the microbiome not only offers new perspectives for elucidating the disease's pathogenesis but also lays the groundwork for developing innovative microbiota-targeted diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Thus, identifying novel therapeutic approaches that bridge psoriasis treatment and microbial regulation holds substantial clinical and social value. While existing treatments for psoriasis have made some progress, research specifically focusing on the microbiota-psoriasis relationship remains relatively limited. Investigating the intrinsic connections between microecological balance and psoriasis management, and developing practical improvement strategies, is therefore of crucial practical significance for enhancing skin health and improving quality of life. This study aims to address this research gap and provide a new therapeutic option for individuals with psoriasis.

A Study on the Treatment of Androgenetic Alopecia in Young Men With Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cell Exosomes

This clinical trial aims to determine the efficacy of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell exosomes (hUCMSC-sEV) in treating androgenic alopecia in young men. It will also investigate the safety of hUCMSC-sEV. The primary inquiry it seeks to address is: * Do hUCMSC-sEV demonstrate efficacy in the treatment of androgenic alopecia in young men? * Do hUCMSC-sEV safely used to treat androgenic alopecia in young men? The clinical trial has two parts. The Phase I study is a dose-escalation trial. Researchers will determine the appropriate dosage of hUCMSC-sEV. The Phase II study is a randomized controlled trial. Researchers will evaluate hUCMSC-sEV against a placebo (minoxidil tincture) to determine the efficacy of hUCMSC-sEV in treating androgenic alopecia in young men. In the phase I study, participants will be categorized into three dosage groups: A, B, and C. In Group A, one injection site will be allocated for each 1 cm² of hair loss area, delivering a dosage of 1.0×10\^8 particles per site. In Group B, the dosage will be 1.0×10\^9 particles per site. In Group C, the dosage will be 1.0×10\^10 particles per site. Participants will attend the clinic at weeks 0, 2, 4, and 6 for treatment and assessments. Participants will also attend the clinic for follow-up examinations at weeks 8, 12, and 24. In the phase II study, participants will be randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio to two groups: the hUCMSC-sEV treatment group and the minoxidil treatment group. hUCMSC-sEV treatment group: the appropriate dose of hUCMSC-sEV for the phase II study was determined based on assessments of safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy from the phase I study. Participants will receive one injection site for each 1 cm² of hair loss area. Participants will attend the clinic for therapy and assessments at weeks 0, 2, 4, and 6. Minoxidil treatment group: participants will get 1 mL of minoxidil administered daily to the area of hair loss for 12 consecutive weeks. All patients will attend the clinic for follow-up examinations at weeks 8, 12, and 24.
