Effects of a Digital Micro-Movement Nudge Intervention on Well-Being and Academic Outcomes in College Students

The goal of this randomized controlled study is to learn whether a 21-day physical resilience (movement-based) program can improve mental well-being, emotional regulation, and academic functioning in university students. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does participation in a 21-day physical resilience program improve students' well-being (e.g., depression, anxiety, stress, affect, life satisfaction, and perceived health)? Does the program improve students' academic and self-regulatory outcomes (e.g., engagement, burnout, procrastination, productivity, emotion regulation, coping, and self-control capacity)? Researchers will compare students who complete the physical resilience program immediately to students in a waitlist control group to see whether participation in the program leads to greater improvements in well-being and academic-related outcomes. Participants will: Sign up online and provide informed consent Be randomly assigned to either the intervention group or a waitlist control group Receive daily micro-movement tasks and reminders via Telegram for 21 days (intervention group) Complete online questionnaire surveys at baseline, post-intervention, and a 2-week follow-up

Efficacy of Interactive Audio-based Mindfulness ChatGPT-Powered Intervention on Well-being

Brief mindfulness intervention is a short form is a form of short-duration practice, typically delivered for around 30 minutes or less (Howarth et al., 2019). It can be conducted in various formats, including a short breathing exercise or body scan (Palascha et al., 2021), and are increasingly offered through digital platforms, including app-based formats. Empirical evidence has examined the efficacy of brief mindfulness intervention and yielded mixed results. For some studies, positive effects were found, while some studies found no supporting evidence. Such inconsistencies may be due to the several current limitations of brief mindfulness intervention. Firstly, the duration of the intervention is too short. Given this brevity, these short practices may not offer the same immersion and depth that traditional mindfulness may offer. Secondly, most brief mindfulness utilised audio-based formats, which tend to be passive in nature and may not fully engage participants. Lastly, for brief mindfulness delivered through app-based platforms, these applications adopt a self-help approach, which may lower engagement and user commitment. Moreover, these applications also relied on audio guides which lacks the student-facilitator engagement found in traditional classes. To address the current limitations within the literature, a between-within-subjects experiment will be conducted where participants will be randomly assigned to one of the three conditions: (1) an interactive brief mindfulness breathing ChatGPT-powered intervention, (2) an interactive mind-wandering ChatGPT-powered control, or (3) a mindfulness breathing audio control. We hypothesise that the brief mindfulness breathing ChatGPT-powered intervention group will have significant improvements in well-being outcomes as compared to the other two control groups. By exploring the potential of an interactive ChatGPT-powered intervention, this study aims to understand its efficacy in improving well-being.

The Effectiveness of a Digital Mindfulness Nudge Intervention on Well-Being, Cognitive, and Academic Outcomes in College Students

The goal of this controlled trial is to learn if a digital mindfulness nudge intervention named "28 Days of Mindful Moments" works to improve cognitive, well-being and academic outcomes in college students. The main questions it aims to answer are: Cognitive: Does "28 Days of Mindful Moments" increase the level of mindfulness and decrease the level of rumination among participants? Well-Being: Does "28 Days of Mindful Moments" lower the levels of depression, anxiety, stress, negative affect and increase the levels of life satisfaction and positive affect among participants? Academic: Does "28 Days of Mindful Moments" increase the levels of productivity, study engagement, goal progress and decrease the levels of procrastination and study burnout among participants? Researchers will compare the digital mindfulness nudge intervention to a waitlist control to see if the intervention works to improve the above outcomes. Participants will: Do daily mindfulness tasks/exercises such as mindful breathing or body scans for 1 month (28 Days) Fill in a questionnaire survey at two fixed time points (before and after for participants in the experimental group, before for participants in the control group) Fill in a follow-up survey
