Exercise and Health Education for Textile Workers: A Pre-Post Study

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) significantly impact quality of life, health status, and work ability. Standard treatments include ergonomic interventions, therapeutic exercise programs, education on risk prevention, active breaks, and physiotherapy. This study aims to assess the current physical and psychosocial condition of textile manufacturing workers and to evaluate the impact of a combine exercise and health education program on their physical and psychosocial outcomes. The eight-week intervention consists of a weekly in-person workshops and two asynchronous online exercise sessions per week via a mobile app, with exercises adjusted based on participant feedback. Participants will be recruited from voluntary textile workers at Lacor Textil, S.L., aged 18-65, with active employment. All participants will receive the intervention program. Primary objectives are to assess the baseline physical and psychosocial condition of participants and to evaluate the effects of the eight-week intervention on their physical fitness, musculoskeletal health, and overall psychosocial well-being Secondary objectives are to examine changes in the intensity and location of musculoskeletal pain and discomfort, the prevalence of symptoms in different body regions, upper and lower body strength using standardized tests, work ability and perception of work performance, and psychosocial and cognitive factors including sleep quality, stress, anxiety, depression, productivity, and quality of life. Hypothesis: The implementation of an eight-week physical exercise and health education program in textile workers will reduce perceived musculoskeletal discomfort and pain, and improve their physical fitness and psychosocial well-being.

Physical Therapy for Depression Quality of Life (Pilot Study Protocol)

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) significantly impacts quality of life and health status. Standard treatments include medical, psychological, and pharmacological approaches, with physical therapy often playing a less central role. This pilot study aims to investigate the potential benefits of incorporating a physical therapy program, based on therapeutic exercise and health education, within the management of MDD in a short-stay psychiatric unit. This project will implement a physical therapy intervention consisting of twice-weekly sessions of active joint mobility exercises, strength training (body weight/elastic bands), balance exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation, integrated with health education on the benefits of physical activity for mental health and strategies for long-term adherence. Adult patients (over 18 years) diagnosed with MDD, admitted to the short-stay psychiatry unit of Royo Villanova Hospital in Zaragoza and under regular medical, psychological, and pharmacological treatment, will be recruited for this study. All participants will receive the physical therapy program in addition to their standard care. The main objective is to analyze the preliminary efficacy of a physical therapy intervention program based on health education and therapeutic exercise in improving quality of life and health status in adults with MDD during their stay in a short-stay psychiatric unit. A secondary objective is to explore the perceptions of these patients and the healthcare professionals regarding the implementation of this multimodal treatment approach, including barriers and facilitators encountered. Hypothesis: A physical therapy program integrating therapeutic exercise and health education is feasible and preliminarily effective in improving quality of life and health status in adults with MDD in a short-stay psychiatric unit and is perceived positively by both patients and healthcare professionals regarding its implementation.

Effects of GPR with K-Stretch Hammock on Posture and Musculoskeletal Discomfort

This study aims to evaluate the effects of Global Postural Reeducation (RPG) using the K-Stretch hammock on workers at San Jorge University who experience neck and lower back discomfort due to prolonged sitting. The primary goal is to examine how this intervention impacts posture, musculoskeletal discomfort, flexibility, and range of motion, as well as participants' quality of life, stress levels, and sleep quality. Neck and lower back discomfort are common issues that significantly impact individuals' quality of life and work performance. Global Postural Reeducation (RPG) is a therapeutic approach that focuses on stretching and strengthening muscle chains to improve posture and alleviate discomfort. This study is innovative in applying RPG combined with a specialized K-Stretch hammock to assess its potential benefits in a workplace setting. Participants will include 32 administrative staff members aged 19 to 65 who work predominantly in seated positions and meet specific inclusion criteria. They will undergo a 6-week program involving bi-weekly 30-minute sessions. The study will also compare pre- and post-intervention results to evaluate changes in musculoskeletal discomfort, functional abilities, and physical alignment. Findings from this study may contribute to developing effective workplace interventions for musculoskeletal health.
