Efficacy and Safety of Acupuncture Combined With Chinese Herbal Fumigation for Chronic Non-Specific Neck Pain

Chronic non-specific neck pain is a common musculoskeletal disorder that significantly affects quality of life and functional ability. Conventional treatments often provide limited relief and may be associated with adverse effects. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal fumigation are commonly used therapies in traditional Chinese medicine and have shown potential benefits in pain relief and functional recovery. This multicenter randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal fumigation in patients with chronic non-specific neck pain. A total of 120 participants will be randomly assigned to three groups: acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal fumigation, acupuncture combined with sham fumigation, and acupuncture alone. All participants will receive five treatment sessions within three weeks, followed by a four-week follow-up period. The primary outcome measure is pain intensity assessed using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Secondary outcome measures include the Neck Disability Index (NDI), cervical range of motion, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), quality of life scale, and Central Sensitization Inventory (CSI). This study aims to provide high-quality clinical evidence regarding the effectiveness of acupuncture combined with Chinese herbal fumigation for chronic non-specific neck pain.

Prevalence and Determinants of Migraine Among Headache Patients

Migraine is a prevalent and disabling neurological condition that often coexists with other health issues, such as hypertension and impaired physical, mental, and social functioning. Understanding the prevalence of migraine and its associations with these health domains can provide valuable insights into the broader impact of migraine on overall well-being. By focusing on patients at the Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University of Engineering in China, this study can identify specific health burdens within this population, inform integrated clinical management strategies, and support the development of targeted interventions to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Effectiveness of Auricular Acupuncture for Migraine

Migraine is a primary headache disorder characterized by recurrent episodes of moderate to severe pain, frequently accompanied by nausea, photophobia, and phonophobia. It ranks as the third most prevalent medical condition globally and is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the top ten causes of disability worldwide. Migraine presents substantial public health concerns due to its considerable socioeconomic burden and its detrimental impact on individuals' quality of life. Although pharmacological treatments are widely available, their effectiveness is often limited, with many patients experiencing inadequate symptom relief or adverse side effects. Consequently, there has been growing interest in non-pharmacological approaches, particularly acupuncture and auricular therapy, due to their favorable safety profiles and reported efficacy in alleviating migraine symptoms. Auricular therapy, a microsystem of acupuncture applied to specific points on the external ear, has gained popularity for its simplicity, low risk, and therapeutic potential. Despite its increasing clinical use, robust scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of auricular therapy for migraine remains insufficient, underscoring the need for well-designed clinical studies to validate its therapeutic value.

Physiotherapy Intervention for Migraine Symptoms

The goal of this randomized control trial is to analyse the effectiveness of Physiotherapy intervention among university students with migraine symptoms. The main objective is: 1. To determine the effect of aerobic exercise on the resting-state brainwaves among university students in UTAR with migraine symptoms compared with biofeedback and control exercise. 2. To analyse the influence of aerobic exercise on the sleep quality and quality of life among the cohort compared with biofeedback and control exercise. Although the Migraine Research Foundation listed three main types of non-drug treatments for migraine are lifestyle advice, therapies, and exercises. Some common aerobic exercises such as walking, jogging, a behavioral weight loss program, cycling, and a combination of cross-training, walking, jogging, and cycling are suggested to be beneficial to the migraine patients but there remains no specific protocol established till now. Hence the other main objective of this is to establish a aerobic exercise protocol for patients with migraine symptoms.
