Scapular Dyskinesis

This study is a prospective blind contrast between periscapular muscle thickness measured with MSUS in patients with early AS in comparison to patients with mechanical dyskinesis and to correlate it with EMG findings.

It has been proposed that altered scapular muscle function can contribute to alterations in shoulder kinematics, which often lead to SD and are frequently associated with other shoulder pathologies, such as RC tears, labrum tears, impingement syndrome, and glenohumeral joint instability. However, whether SD leads to the development of these diseases or is a consequence has yet to be clarified. Changes in scapular kinematics can be attributed not only to altered scapular recruitment patterns (e.g., altered serratus anterior muscle activity) or muscle performance (e.g., force imbalance in the upper and lower trapezius muscles) but also to flexibility deficits in the soft tissue surrounding the scapula, which may restrict normal scapular movement during daily activities and sport- specific movements. Although many studies have investigated the optimal management method, to date, there is no consensus. Conservative approaches involve not only physiotherapy but also other techniques, such as extracorporeal shockwave therapy.

This study will be conducted to investigate the relationship between scapular dyskinesia and rotator cuff muscle strength and acromiohumeral distance in asymptomatic individuals.

The purpose of this study is to compare the prone row exercise, and the lateral pull down exercise, in individuals diagnosed with shoulder impingement syndrome and scapular dyskinesia regarding latissimus dorsi strength, middle trapezius strength, lower trapezius strength, rhomboids strength, Visual analog scale score, Shoulder pain and disability index score and scapular stability test values.

To evaluate the combined effects of motor control retraining and scapular stabilization exercises on pain reduction, muscle strength improvement, and functional enhancement in breastfeeding females diagnosed with scapular dyskinesia, and to determine the effectiveness of this combined approach in addressing their musculoskeletal impairments.

Scapular dyskinesia (SD) is a disorder defined by aberrant scapular placement and movement, which can have a substantial impact on athletes' performance, particularly those who participate in throwing sports like Frisbee. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of SD among Frisbee players in Malaysia, assess its effects on various aspects of athletic performance, and evaluate the effectiveness of gamified scapular rehabilitation exercises delivered via a mobile application. This study's approach is divided into three unique phases, where phase one consists of a prevalence and impact assessment using a cross-sectional study design, which will be carried out among several Frisbee clubs in Malaysia. This phase will use several outcome measures to evaluate SD and its impact along with respiratory muscle strength assessments to analyze the potential respiratory outcomes. Phase Two focuses on the creation of a mobile application that would gamify scapular rehabilitation exercises while embracing agile development approaches. The development process will include comprehensive testing procedures to ensure functionality and usability, such as functional testing to verify the application's features, usability testing to assess user experience, data validation to ensure accurate information processing, and regression testing to confirm stability after updates, and user acceptance testing to evaluate performance in real-world scenarios. Phase Three consists of intervention and evaluation by a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to determine the efficacy of the gamified rehabilitation intervention. The intervention, which consists of gamified scapular rehabilitation exercises given via a mobile application, will last eight weeks. Subjects will be followed up after 6 months of the intervention to determine their level of adherence to the rehabilitation.The expected outcomes of this study aim to significantly contribute to the field of sports medicine and rehabilitation by introducing and validating gamified rehabilitation techniques specifically designed for athletes with scapular dyskinesia. The study results are expected to promote the well-being of athletes by improving their sports performance and reducing the risk of injuries. In conclusion, this study not only advances our understanding of SD in athletes but also paves the way for innovative rehabilitation solutions that can be adopted across various sports and settings.

Core stability is the ability to control the position and movement of the trunk for optimal production, transfer, and control of forces in the upper and lower extremities during functional activities. Studies have shown that TrA activation is delayed in individuals with low back pain. The relationship between core stability and the lower extremity has been frequently studied in the literature, and according to Kibler's 'Kinetic Chain' theory, loss of proximal stability is known to lead to dysfunction in distal segments; however, the relationship between the upper extremity and core stability is still unclear. The aim of our study is to investigate the upper extremity reach capacity and scapular stability of individuals with low back pain in relation to TrA involvement and to compare them with healthy individuals without low back pain.

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a 4-week rhythm-based stabilization exercise protocol for professional video gamers diagnosed with scapular dyskinesis. Participants will undergo a structured exercise program consisting of 6 specific scapular stabilization exercises. These exercises will be performed on both stable surfaces (such as a treatment table or wall) and unstable surfaces (such as Swiss balls) to challenge neuromuscular control. The primary goal is to determine how this combined approach affects scapular control, upper extremity functional performance, and joint range of motion. Data will be collected through clinical assessments before and after the 4-week intervention to measure improvements in scapular stability and overall upper limb function.

This study aims to fill this gap by investigating the effects of scapular and upper limb proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques on shoulder pain, upper limb function \& gait in stroke with scapular dyskinesia. This study is a randomized control trial that includes 44 patients which were randomly divided into two groups each containing 22 participants. Experimental group will receive scapular PNF coupled with upper limb PNF and conventional physiotherapy treatment and Control group will receive only Conventional treatment.

The scapula functions as a bridge connecting the upper extremity and the trunk. It contributes to more efficient and functional upper extremity movements. Scapular dyskinesis, defined as a deviation from the resting position and movements of the scapula, can reduce shoulder proprioception, scapular muscle endurance, and upper extremity function. The aim is to compare the long-term effects of exercises performed using the ShoulderSphere and the Bodyblade, which provide oscillatory stimulation and vibration, enhancing neuromuscular control that improves these factors. Forty-five volunteers with asymptomatic scapular dyskinesis will be randomized into three groups. The control group will receive resistive scapular muscle exercises. The ShoulderSphere group will receive exercises performed using the ShoulderSphere in addition to the control group. The Bodyblade group will receive exercises performed using the Bodyblade in addition to the control group. Pre- and post-treatment proprioception, muscle endurance, and upper extremity function will be assessed, and the groups will be compared. The study results will analyze which method is more effective in the rehabilitation program of individuals with asymptomatic scapular dyskinesis and determine its inclusion in the rehabilitation program.

The goal of this study is to diagnose scapular dyskinesis-which can appear as a cause or result of various shoulder disorders-through screening tests in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome, the most common shoulder condition. By identifying scapular dyskinesis, the study aims to maximize treatment outcomes through appropriate rehabilitative exercise therapy.

Scapular dyskinesia is defined by abnormal movement or placement of the scapula, the shoulder blade, during arm movements. Physical treatment aimed at regaining appropriate scapular mechanics through strengthening exercises, postural correction, and functional movement training is typically part of management. A randomized clinical trial will be conducted. The study will be conducted at Unique school and on school going children in a total duration of 10 months. Sample size will be 22.There will be two study groups. A convenient sampling technique will be used. The sample which will have following characteristics will be included children with age group 9 to 12 years, positive scapular test, positive scapular assistance test, athletes who practice one hour three days a week. The sample with the following characteristics will be excluded. Any muscular or joint deformity, scoliosis, shoulder dislocation. The tools that will be included in the study are modified lateral scapular test, shoulder flexion test, shoulder and pain disability index, upper extremity functional use scale, posture and posture assessment scale, shoulder and scapular ranges.

The contribution of the scapula to shoulder joint movement is great. The contribution of the scapula bone is more prominent, especially in overhead activities. Therefore, the position and movement of the scapula are generally examined in people with shoulder disease. Scapula-focused exercises are used in patients with shoulder problems. However, some studies focused on the effectiveness of scapula-focused exercises on shoulder problems. Thes studies fundings are controversial. Scapular dyskinesis has not been evaluated in these studies. No study has set the condition of having scapular dyskinesis as an inclusion criterion. Scapular-focused exercises are expected to have a greater effect especially on patients with scapular dyskinesis. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of scapula-focused exercises on patients with shoulder pain and obvious scapular dyskinesis.

We wanted to find the effectiveness between the theraband and general exercises on scapular dyskinesis in male cricket players.

To study the combination of upper extremity PNF patterns and SS exercises on improving neck pain, function, scapular position, and scapular muscles strength in patients with NSCNP and SD.
