The main hypotheses are: H0: There is no difference in cognitive awareness, body awareness, and sleep quality between university students with sustainable exercise habits and those with a sedentary lifestyle. H1: There is a difference in cognitive awareness, body awareness, and sleep quality between university students with sustainable exercise habits and those with a sedentary lifestyle.

Polarized Aerobic Training and Vascular Adaptations in Apparently Healthy Individuals

This randomized controlled trial will investigate the effects of a 6-week polarized aerobic training intervention on vascular and cardiorespiratory function in apparently healthy sedentary adults aged 30-50 years. Polarized training is characterized by a high proportion of low-intensity aerobic exercise combined with a smaller volume of high-intensity interval exercise, potentially providing complementary haemodynamic and physiological stimuli that support vascular adaptations and cardiovascular health. Although polarized training has been extensively studied in athletic populations, its effects on vascular function in sedentary adults remain insufficiently understood. Thirty participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1 ratio to either a supervised polarized aerobic training group or a non-exercising control group. The intervention will consist of a 6-week supervised cycle ergometer training program performed three times per week and prescribed according to individual ventilatory thresholds obtained during cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Training sessions will combine low-to-moderate-intensity continuous exercise and high-intensity interval exercise. Participants allocated to the control group will maintain their habitual sedentary lifestyle throughout the study period. The primary outcome will be endothelial function assessed by brachial artery flow-mediated dilation. Secondary outcomes will include arterial stiffness assessed by pulse wave velocity, central haemodynamics, microvascular function, cardiorespiratory fitness, skeletal muscle function, pulmonary function, respiratory muscle strength, and circulating biomarkers related to vascular health. Outcome measures will be assessed at baseline and after completion of the 6-week intervention period. The findings of this study may improve understanding of vascular and systemic adaptations to polarized aerobic training and help inform future exercise-based strategies for cardiovascular risk reduction in apparently healthy sedentary adults.

Logotherapy-Based Online Education to Improve Physical Activity in Sedentary Workers

Insufficient physical activity (PA) among individuals with sedentary occupations is associated with an increased risk of chronic disease and reduced health-related quality of life. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an originally developed logotherapy-based distance education program on physical activity, sedentary behavior, and selected aspects of health-related quality of life. A minimum of 200 participants aged 35-60 years with sedentary occupations will be recruited from multiple organizations in Croatia and randomly assigned to an experimental or control group. All participants will complete validated questionnaires assessing physical activity, sedentary behavior, health-related quality of life, self-efficacy, meaning in life, and motivation for exercise at baseline and after the intervention period. The experimental group will participate in an eight-week online education program consisting of weekly 30-minute sessions followed by brief discussions, while the control group will continue their usual lifestyle without intervention. The intervention integrates principles of logotherapy and existential analysis with the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change and the CALO-RE behavior change taxonomy. The findings may contribute to the development of more effective, meaning-centered approaches to promoting physical activity and reducing sedentary behavior in adult populations.

Effectiveness of a Physical Exercise Prescription Program in Primary Care for Adults Aged 65 and Older: PREFIS-AP

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an individualized Physical Exercise Prescription Program delivered in Primary Care for adults aged 65 years and older. The intervention includes a structured assessment of physical fitness, muscle function and mass, physical activity level, and quality of life, followed by a tailored exercise plan encompassing aerobic, strength, respiratory, flexibility, and balance training. Outcomes will be compared with a control group receiving standard health advice to walk briskly for at least 30 minutes daily. The study also explores associations between polypharmacy, muscle function, physical performance, and quality of life.

Effects of Baduanjin Exercise on Improving Health in Sedentary Young and Middle-Aged Adults

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if a 12-week Baduanjin exercise program can improve health in sedentary young and middle-aged adults. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does the Baduanjin program improve participants' cardiorespiratory fitness (measured as peak oxygen uptake)? 2. Does it improve their body composition, muscle strength, balance, and flexibility? 3. Does it reduce their daily sitting time? Researchers will compare the Baduanjin training group to a health education control group to see if Baduanjin is more effective in improving these health outcomes. Participants will: 1. Be randomly assigned to one of the two groups. 2. If in the Baduanjin group, attend supervised group sessions and practice at home for 12 weeks. 3. Complete a series of assessments at the beginning, middle, and end of the study, including fitness tests, body measurements, and questionnaires.

Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment in Primary Care

This study evaluates the feasibility and acceptability of implementing the electronic Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (eCGA) in primary care for adults aged 65 years and older. The study examines how frailty changes over 12 months, how patient self-assessments compare with physician assessments, and how patients perceive the value of the eCGA when used as part of routine care. The study also includes an interventional randomized sub-study (PAHA), in which eligible participants receive a personalized physical activity program developed by a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Participants are randomized to either an immediate-start or delayed-start exercise group, allowing assessment of the effects of a tailored activity intervention on frailty, physical activity participation, and goal attainment. Findings will inform how eCGA tools and personalized activity interventions can be integrated into primary care to support healthy aging and frailty management.

Smart mHealth Strategy for Physical Activity and Health Promotion

The purpose of this study is to develop a Smart mHealth Strategy that delivers behavior change techniques through wearable physical activity trackers and social media chatbots, including self-monitoring, real-time feedback and reminders, goal-setting, competition and rewards, social support, and health coaching. This study also aims to explore the effect of the Smart mHealth Strategy on the behavioral outcomes and psychological factors of physical activity, and physical and mental health. The study design is a three-stage randomized controlled trial. In each stage, 120 are recruited and randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. Participants are adults with insufficient physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle. The Smart mHealth Strategy uses smartwatches and self-developed chatbots. The constrained dialogue content is designed to finally deliver the six behavior change techniques. Data are collected in the pre-, mid-, and post-tests. The measurement includes self-administered questionnaires, Actigraphy GT9X, Inbody 270S, OMRON HEM-7130, and heart rate variability monitors.
