The Treatment of Painful Diabetic Neuropathy With Diet

The purpose of this clinical trial is to determine whether targeted nutritional changes can improve symptoms of painful diabetic neuropathy. Impaired blood flow to peripheral nerves-resulting in reduced oxygen delivery and subsequent nerve injury-is a well-established contributor to neuropathy. Prior studies have shown that a whole-food, plant-based diet without added oils can improve or even reverse arterial disease, suggesting a potential mechanism for enhancing nerve perfusion and function. This study is a randomized controlled trial comparing a whole-food, plant-based diet with standard pharmacologic management for painful diabetic neuropathy.

Evaluating Suzetrigine for Pain Control Following TKA

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if a non-opioid pain medicine called suzetrigine works to treat pain after total knee replacement surgery in adults. It will also learn about the safety of suzetrigine. The main questions it aims to answer are: Does suzetrigine lower the amount of opioid pain medicine participants use after surgery? Does suzetrigine have any effect on postoperative patient-reported outcomes, including pain scores, range of motion, length of stay, and KOOS/PROMIS surveys? Researchers will compare suzetrigine to a placebo to see if suzetrigine works to treat pain after total knee replacement surgery. Participants will: Take suzetrigine or a placebo by mouth for 14 days after surgery Receive standard pain care, including opioid pain medicine only if needed Report their pain levels using short daily surveys Attend routine follow-up visits after surgery

Surgical Care And Recovery With Laser Evaluation Trial (SCARLET)

The Surgical Care and Recovery with Laser Evaluation Trial (S.C.A.R.L.E.T.) is a prospective, single-center clinical study conducted at AdventHealth Medical Group Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Innovation Tower. The study evaluates whether early adjuvant ProFractional laser and/or Broadband Light (BBL) therapy improves the appearance, texture, and patient-reported outcomes of surgical scars following major body-contouring procedures. Participants undergoing qualifying surgeries will be grouped as either cosmetic (receiving three laser/BBL sessions) or non-cosmetic (receiving standard care only). Scar outcomes will be assessed using validated instruments-SCAR-Q and Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale (POSAS)-along with standardized photographic analysis at serial follow-ups through six months postoperatively.

Comparative Analysis of Hearing Outcomes: Robotic vs. Manual Insertion of Cochlear Implants

This research study is evaluating two different methods of cochlear implant (CI) insertion - robotic-assisted insertion and manual insertion - to better understand how they affect hearing outcomes. Participants in this study will be randomly assigned to receive their cochlear implant using one of these two techniques. Both methods are performed in a standard operating room by qualified surgeons, and both are considered safe and approved for use. The main goal is to compare how well participants hear one year after surgery based on the insertion method used. The study will also look at things like surgical time, inner ear health, and how the hearing nerve responds. All participants will receive the same type of cochlear implant device and follow-up care. This study may help guide future surgical techniques and improve outcomes for individuals receiving cochlear implants.

The LARC Robot Simplifies Renal Access In Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

This study is being done to evaluate a new robotic system that helps urologists more precisely reach the kidney during surgery to remove large kidney stones. The procedure, called percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), is typically used for people who have large or difficult-to-remove kidney stones. Traditionally, many urologists rely on radiologists to place a tube into the kidney before surgery. This can cause delays, require multiple procedures, and increase costs. The robotic system being studied - called LARC - is designed to help the urologist safely and accurately guide a needle directly into the kidney during the surgery, without needing a separate procedure beforehand. The robot uses live X-ray images to help align the instruments. Although parts of the robot have been approved by the U.S. FDA, the version used in this study is still investigational and not yet approved for this specific purpose. The study will take place at AdventHealth Celebration and include up to 45 adult patients who are scheduled for PCNL surgery. Participants will be followed for up to 1 month after surgery, and doctors will look at outcomes such as the success of the procedure, the number of kidney stones removed, complications, time in surgery, and radiation exposure. This research may help make kidney stone surgery safer, faster, and more effective in the future.
