Effectiveness of Manual Lymphatic Drainage in the Physiotherapeutic Treatment of Migraine

Migraine is a highly prevalent neurological disorder associated with recurrent headache, disability, and reduced quality of life. In addition to pain, migraine is frequently accompanied by autonomic dysfunction, psychological comorbidities, and sleep disturbances. Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a physiotherapy technique that may influence pain perception and autonomic regulation by promoting lymphatic and venous return and facilitating parasympathetic activity. The aim of this pilot clinical study is to evaluate the effectiveness of manual lymphatic drainage in patients with migraine. Participants will be allocated to an experimental group receiving manual lymphatic drainage or to a control group. Outcomes related to pain intensity, pressure pain thresholds, migraine-related disability, quality of life, psychological variables, sleep quality, and vital signs will be assessed at baseline, after the intervention, and during follow-up periods. This study seeks to provide preliminary evidence on the feasibility and potential clinical effects of manual lymphatic drainage as a non-pharmacological physiotherapy approach for migraine management.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Manual Lymphatic Drainage in Young Women With Primary Dysmenorrhea

This pilot clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) in reducing symptoms associated with primary dysmenorrhea in young women. Primary dysmenorrhea is a common gynecological condition characterized by intense pelvic pain during menstruation, often accompanied by fatigue, headache, and sleep disturbances. Despite its high prevalence, it is frequently underestimated, negatively impacting quality of life and daily activities. The intervention consists of three monthly sessions of MLD performed during the late luteal phase, prior to menstruation. Outcome measures include pain intensity, abdominal circumference, pressure pain threshold, sleep quality, and health-related quality of life.

Effect of Manual Lymphatic Drainage on Muscle Fatigue in Female 11-a-side Football Players

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) in accelerating recovery following induced fatigue in female football players. The study integrates objective performance measurements using linear encoders with anthropometric assessments and psychophysiological evaluations. It aims to quantify the impact of MLD on neuromuscular recovery, muscle edema, and perceived fatigue, considering sex-specific physiological factors and the influence of sleep and psychological stress. The findings will contribute to developing non-invasive, individualized recovery strategies to enhance performance and reduce injury risk in women's football.

Effectiveness of Percutaneous Electrolysis and Dry Needling vs. Standard Therapy for Whiplash Syndrome

The main objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of two interventions (PIE vs DDN) in adult patients who have suffered a LCS after a traffic accident and comparing it with a standard physiotherapy program. As a secondary objective, the investigators will analyze the reduction of intrafibrillar blood flow and muscle elasticity perceived by the patient in the long term and the reduction of pain and disability appreciated by the patient. It is hypothesized as an alternative hypothesis that percutaneous electrolysis and/or deep dry needling intervention in combination with standard physiotherapy will give better clinical outcomes in patients with active trigger point LCS following a road traffic accident compared to the current standard physiotherapy intervention. The researchers will compare both invasive physical therapy techniques with standard treatment to see if these techniques are more effective in treating whiplash syndrome.
