The Effect of Therapeutic Exercise on Cartilage Morphology and Physical Function for Individuals at High Risk of Knee Osteoarthritis

This randomized controlled trial aims to evaluate the efficacy of progressive resistance exercises (PRE) versus aerobic exercises on cartilage morphology and physical function in patients with degenerative meniscus tears. 45 participants, aged 35-55, will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: PRE, aerobic exercise, or control (standard of care physical and medical therapy). The study will utilize MRI T2 mapping to assess changes in cartilage composition and patient-reported and performance-based measures to evaluate clinical outcomes. This pilot study will also determine the feasibility and issues related to recruitment and retention for a larger trial.

Effect of Injectable Hyaluronic Acid (HYADENT BG (HA)) on Bone Healing in Extraction Sockets

Complications such as postoperative pain and delayed socket healing are relatively common following surgical extraction of mandibular third molars. Various biomaterials have been investigated to enhance wound healing and reduce postoperative morbidity. Hyaluronic acid (HA) has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties that may improve both soft and hard tissue healing. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of topical hyaluronic acid on postoperative pain and alveolar socket bone healing following surgical extraction of mandibular third molars. A prospective, randomized, controlled clinical trial with a split-mouth design will be conducted. Twenty patients requiring bilateral mandibular third molar surgical extraction will be enrolled. In each patient, one extraction socket will receive hyaluronic acid combined with a collagen sponge, while the contralateral socket will receive a collagen sponge alone, according to random allocation. Postoperative pain will be assessed using a visual analogue scale, and socket healing will be evaluated radiographically and histologically.

PMR vs MM for Patients on Hemodialysis

Background: Hemodialysis is considered as an effective therapy to remove harmful waste from the body and to improve the quality of life in patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (ESRD). However, patients who receive hemodialysis perceive various stressors that are harmful to their physical and psychological well-being. Therefore, it is necessary to implement effective and practical therapeutic strategies to enhance the quality of life in this population. Mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) are effective mind-body connection programs that are inadequately used in patients undergoing hemodialysis. Objectives: This study will examine the differential effects of mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) and progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) on expression suppression, cognitive reappraisal, and perceived Stress in Patients with End-Stage Renal Disease undergoing hemodialysis in Jordan. Methods: An experimental parallel control, randomized design will be implemented among 159 PwESRD undergoing hemodialysis in a big referral Hospital in Jordan. Simple random assignation will be used to create three equal groups including PMR, MBI, and control groups (N= each). Both groups will practice their assigned intervention over five weeks (with three half-hour sessions per week) during hemodialysis sessions. The study variables will be measured for the three groups at the outset and eight weeks after initiation. Variables will be measured by the self-reporting questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristic sheet, the Mindfulness attention awareness scale (MAAS) the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), and the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Repeated measures analysis of variance (RM ANOVA) will be used to analyze the main study data.

The Effect of Mindfulness on Emotional Regulations Skills and Quality of Life Among Patients on Hemodialysis

The study aims to investigate how mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) impacts trait mindfulness, cognitive reappraisal, expressive suppression and quality of life in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis. A Randomized controlled trial will be conducted with patients diagnosed with ESRD and undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Participants selected using a convenience sampling method will be randomly assigned into the intervention group (n=52) who received MBI, and the control group (n=52) who received a similar intervention after the study. The intervention involves a 30-minute MBI introduced three sessions per week during hemodialysis sessions over five weeks. Outcome measures included the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale (MAAS) to assess trait mindfulness, the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) for cognitive reappraisal and behavioral suppression, and the Kidney Disease-related Quality of Life Questionnaire for quality of life. Data were collected at baseline and post-intervention.
