Quantification of Peripheral Blood iNKTs After Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation

The transplantation of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) can lead to serious complications after transplantation, such as graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), infections and relapse due to immunosuppression. Invariant NKT cells (iNKT cells) play a pivotal role in modulating the immune response and have been demonstrated to be instrumental in the pathogenesis of GvHD, cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, and relapse. Their levels are associated with the development of these complications. This multicentre study aims to test the feasibility of standardising iNKT cell monitoring and to investigate the association between iNKT cell levels and post-transplant complications.

The Role of Stress in Cardiac Arrest (Cortizol CPR)

The aim of this study is to assess long-term stress in patients after an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. To do this, we will measure levels of the stress hormone cortisol in hair samples. Cortisol is produced in larger amounts during periods of ongoing stress and builds up in the hair as it grows. Because hair grows about 1 cm per month, a 3 cm hair sample can show your average stress level over the past three months. The results will be compared with anonymized information from your medical records and the care you received before and during your hospital stay.

Comparison of Skin Prick Testing, Extract-specific IgE Antibody Testing and Component Resolved Diagnosis in Diagnosing of Legume Allergy

The study is aimed at improving the diagnosis of food allergy, specifically allergy to commonly consumed legumes such as peas, lentils, chickpeas or green beans. Patients suspected of allergy to these legumes will be examined using traditional methods of IgE-mediated allergy diagnosing (skin prick test, testing for specific IgE antibodies against food extract), but also by testing for specific IgE antibodies against relevant allergenic molecules of these legumes. The results of performed tests will be compared with the result of the oral food challenge, which is considered to be the gold standard of food allergy diagnosis.
