Effects of Partial Sleep Deprivation on Cardiac Output During Cycling

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine if attenuations in cardiac output drive the blunted blood pressure response during cycling exercise following a night of partial sleep deprivation in young healthy adults (%50 females). The secondary outcome is to assess sex differences. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Do reductions in plasma volume drive reductions in cardiac output and therefore blood pressure during exercise following a night of partial sleep deprivation? * Do sex differences exist? Participants will: * Visit the lab after a night of normal sleep and a night of partial sleep deprivation. * Keep a daily diary of their sleep and food/beverage intake. * Perform maximal and submaximal exercise on a cycle ergometer.

Emotion Focused Family Therapy for Parents of Children With Mental Health Difficulties

Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) is a promising intervention that aims to teach parents advanced skills to support their child's development of emotion skills and increase their adaptive behaviours, potentially leading to improvements in their child's psychological functioning and family functioning more broadly. This randomized controlled trial (RCT; EFFT vs waitlist control) will (1) test the efficacy of a 6-week group EFFT program on parent and child outcomes and (2) examine maintenance of treatment gains up to four months post-intervention.

The Chocolate Almond Study - Relating Chewing to Satiation and Postprandial Response

The goal of this clinical trial is to relate chewing behaviours to food intake and postprandial response for a texturally complex food matrix (almonds in white chocolate) in healthy young females. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Does the presence or preparation of almonds (whole versus chopped) influence satiation, i.e., the amount consumed at an ad libitum meal? * What is the correlation between chewing behaviour, satiation, and changes in postprandial glucose, triacylglycerols, and satiety ratings? Participants will attend the research centre fasted on three occasions to consume an ad libitum meal, complete questionnaires, and provide fasting and postprandial finger prick blood samples.

Big Feelings: A Study on Children's Emotions in Therapy

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn about how psychotherapy works for children and adolescents aged 8 - 15 with anxiety, depression, trauma, or disruptive behaviour. The main question it aims to answer is: • Is the biobehavioural regulation of negative emotion a transdiagnostic mechanism of treatment response in psychotherapy for children with anxiety, depression, trauma and/or disruptive behaviour? Children and their parents will be randomly assigned to an evidence-based, transdiagnostic treatment (the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Conduct Problems; MATCH-ADTC) or a waitlist control condition. Participants in both groups will complete a baseline assessment, weekly measures consisting of brief symptom scales and medication tracking, and quarterly assessments every 3 months. Following the intervention/waitlist period, our team will conduct post-test assessments. All assessments, except for the weekly surveys, will consist of symptom scales, clinical interviews, experimental tasks and physiological measures.
