Effects of a Combined Home-Based Exercise Program on Menstrual Pain, Dual-Task Gait Performance, and EEG Markers of Cognitive-Motor Control in Females With Primary Dysmenorrhea

What is this study about? Dysmenorrhea, commonly known as painful period, is a common gynecological symptom experienced by several women of reproductive age. This particular type of pain arises during the menstrual cycle, often negatively impacting the quality of life and ability to successfully carry out daily activities and academic or work performance. This is study will involve physiotherapy treatment in the form of a home-based exercise program for those experiencing dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study is to determine how effective this exercise intervention is by assessing the pain score, menstrual symptoms, gait performance and cognitive-motor control.

Forward Head Posture Correction on Cerebral Oxygenation During Dual-task in Symptomatic Subjects

This study aims to investigate the effects of forward head posture correction on neck pain, brain activity, and cognitive-motor performance. Forward head posture is a common postural problem, especially among young adults who spend long hours using smartphones and computers. It is frequently associated with neck pain, reduced mobility, and functional limitations. Emerging evidence also suggests that this postural deviation may influence brain function and increase the mental effort required during tasks that involve both thinking and movement. Participants with forward head posture and neck pain will be recruited and randomly assigned to one of three groups: an intervention group using a cervical traction device (Denneroll), a sham group using a towel roll, or a control group receiving no intervention. The intervention will be performed at home over a six-week period, with sessions conducted five times per week. The duration of each session will gradually increase based on participant tolerance to ensure safety and comfort. All participants will undergo assessments at baseline and after the intervention period. Pain intensity will be measured using a standardized pain scale. Brain activity will be assessed using a non-invasive technique called functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), which measures changes in oxygen levels in the brain. Participants will also perform balance tasks under single-task and dual-task conditions, where they will be asked to maintain balance while performing simple cognitive tasks. In addition, cognitive function will be evaluated using standardized tests of attention, memory, and overall cognitive performance. This study will help determine whether correcting forward head posture can reduce pain and improve brain and cognitive function. The findings may provide valuable insights into the relationship between posture, pain, and brain activity, and may contribute to the development of more effective and comprehensive rehabilitation approaches for individuals with forward head posture.

Augmented Reality-Based Dual-Task Training in People With Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is the most common NDD affecting young people worldwide. MS can seriously affect quality of life and hinder daily functional activities. Therefore, living with MS is a daunting task for both patients and their families. With the prediction of an increase in life expectancy, it is also expected that MS will pose major challenges to healthcare providers in the UAE and globally in terms of its clinical management and financial implications. This proposed project aims to develop structured AR scenarios that integrate dual-tasking exercises commonly used in MS physiotherapy, specifically designed to meet the needs of PwMS. The primary goal is to evaluate the feasibility, acceptability, and potential benefits of these AR scenarios as a rehabilitation tool for PwMS.

Bilateral Anodal Cerebellar tDCS for Multidomain Dysfunctions in Patients With Multiple Sclerosis

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if brain stimulation can improve movement and daily function in people with multiple sclerosis (MS). The study will also look at how this treatment affects fatigue, sleep, memory and attention, and quality of life. The main questions this study aims to answer are the following: Does this treatment improve coordination and balance? Does it reduce fatigue and improve sleep and daily life? Does it change brain activity? Researchers will compare active brain stimulation to sham stimulation (a look-alike treatment that does not deliver real stimulation) to see if the treatment works. Participants will: Receive brain stimulation sessions for two weeks Attend assessment sessions before and after treatment Return for a follow-up visit after four weeks Complete tests of movement, fatigue, sleep, and thinking

Mirror Image Spine Correction Exercises Versus Conservative Physiotherapy for Lumbar Radiculopathy

Lumbar radiculopathy is a common condition caused by irritation or compression of a lumbar nerve root, often resulting in radiating leg pain, numbness, weakness, and functional limitation. Conservative physiotherapy is commonly used as first-line treatment, but outcomes vary among patients. This randomized controlled trial will compare Mirror Image Spine Correction Exercises with standardized conservative physiotherapy in adults with lumbar radiculopathy. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two treatment groups for 12 weeks. The primary outcome is lumbar nerve root microstructural integrity measured using Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI), including Fractional Anisotropy and other diffusion parameters. Secondary outcomes include pain intensity, disability, spinal alignment, and adverse events. The purpose of this study is to determine whether a targeted posture-correction exercise approach provides greater improvement than conventional physiotherapy.

Cortical Excitability and Typing Performance After Action Observation and Motor Execution

Goal: This study will aim to investigate the effects of different motor stimulation strategies-motor execution (ME) and action observation (AO)-on cortical excitability and typing performance in healthy individuals. Recruitment: A total of 60 healthy university students will be recruited and randomly assigned into three groups: Motor Execution group (n=20) Action Observation group (n=20) Control group (n=20) Evaluation Tools: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) using DEYMED DuoMAG XT will be used to measure Resting Motor Threshold (RMT), Motor Evoked Potential (MEP) Amplitude, and MEP Latency of the First Dorsal Interosseous (FDI) muscle. Online Typing Test will be used to assess typing speed (words per minute) and accuracy (percentage of correct characters). Intervention: The ME group will perform a 3-minute typing task. The AO group will observe a 3-minute first-person video of typing. The Control group will not receive any intervention between assessments. All participants will undergo TMS and typing assessments twice, once before and once after the intervention.

The Short-term Effect of Low-load Resistance Training with Blood-flow Restriction on Somatosensory-evoked Potentials in Healthy Young Adults

The goal of this clinical trial is to investigate the short-term effect of lower limb BFRT on the somatosensory processing and related changes in SSEP amplitude and latency. The main questions it aims to answer are: * Is there an effect of short-term application of BFRT on the somatosensory system? * How do different cuff widths affect the somatosensory system? * How do three different cuff widths affect perceived pain? Researchers will compare 3 different cuff widths to see if different cuff widths affect the somatosensory system and perceived pain. Participants will: * Undergo 3 experimental sessions, sessions will be separated by 72 hours and the order of the sessions to be randomly selected. * Perform low-load resistance training with blood flow restriction.

Compare the Effects of Different AVNS Parameters on Neck Pain, HRV, Balance in Collegiate Atheletes

This study looks at how auricular vagus nerve stimulation (AVNS) affects neck pain, heart rate variability, and balance in college athletes, additionally, if different settings of auricular vagus nerve stimulation (AVNS) affect neck pain, heart rate variability, and balance in college athletes. The participants will be split into two groups, each receiving AVNS with different settings. The study hypothesizes that vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) will reduce pain perception in college athletes. It is expected that auricular vagus nerve stimulation (AVNS) will decrease heart rate variability (HRV) in this population. Additionally, it is anticipated that college athletes undergoing AVNS will exhibit improved balance. The Investigators also believe that AVNS will decrease neck pain and enhance neck function. Finally, it is proposed that different AVNS parameters will have varying effects on pain intensity, HRV, and balance in collegiate athletes.
