Ginger to Prevent Nausea and Vomiting After Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

This study aims to evaluate whether preoperative oral administration of ginger (800 mg, given 2 hours before surgery) reduces the incidence and severity of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) within the first 24 hours after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Impact of Date Consumption on Metabolic Control and Oxidative Stress in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Summary Dates, rich in simple sugars, fiber, and antioxidant polyphenols, have a variable glycemic index and conflicting reported effects on type 2 diabetes. Moderate consumption might raise glycemia if added to the usual diet, but could improve insulin sensitivity and oxidative balance if used as an isocaloric substitute. This prospective, interventional, single-center study (Endocrinology Department., La Rabta Hospital, Tunis) aims to evaluate the effect of daily consumption of 3 Deglet Nour dates for 8 weeks on glycemic control and oxidative stress in 130 well-controlled type 2 diabetic patients. Primary objectives: Assess changes in HbA1c, fasting glucose, and HOMA-IR. Measure variations in oxidative stress markers (MDA, SOD, TAC, pentosidine). Secondary objectives: Monitor changes in weight, BMI, waist circumference, and blood pressure. Assess tolerance, adherence, satisfaction, and adverse events. Study design: Baseline and final visits (week 0 and week 8) with clinical, dietary, and laboratory assessments. Isocaloric substitution: 3 dates replace a carbohydrate portion (e.g., fruit or dessert). No change in antidiabetic therapy or lifestyle allowed. Endpoints: Primary: ΔHbA1c, Δfasting glucose, ΔHOMA-IR, and oxidative markers. Secondary: Anthropometrics, blood pressure, safety, adherence, lipid and metabolic parameters. Expected outcome: determine whether moderate, isocaloric date consumption is safe and potentially beneficial for metabolic control and oxidative balance in Tunisian patients with type 2 diabetes.

Prevention of Rebound Pain After Axillary Block

This will be a single-center randomized double blind placebo control clinical trial. In the cohort of patients undergoing hand surgery under axillary nerve block, participants are recruited from those who are willing to consent and participate in the study, and will be randomly 1:1 divided into intervention group and placebo group.

Lumbal Erector Spinae Plane Block for Pain Management After Total Hip Arthroplasty

The Erector Spinae Plane (ESP) block or spinal erector block was first described in September 2016 by a Canadian team. It's a block that was initially used for the treatment of chronic thoracic neuropathic pain. The ESP block is one of the inter-fascicular blocks and it's an easy-to-perform technique. In the literature, it has been reported that Lumbar ESPB provides effective analgesia after a hip surgery. The purpose of this prospective randomized study was to compare the analgesic effects of the ultrasound-guided lumbar Erector Spinae Plane block on postoperative pain management versus the multimodal analgesia after total hip arthroplasty.

Comparison of Intravenous Lidocaine vs Ketamine in Colorectal Surgery

Patients undergoing open colorectal surgery were randomly divided into two groups: Intravenous Lidocaine (IV-Lido) vs Intravenous Ketamine (IV-Keta). For the IV-Lido group, patients received a loading dose of Lidocaine than a continuous infusion over twenty-four hours. For the IV-Keta goup, patients received a loading dose of Ketamine than a continuous injection of Ketamine over twenty-four hours. Plasma concentrations of Interleukin-6(IL-6) were measured preoperatively before anesthetic induction and at twenty-four hour post operatively.

Music Therapy for Labor Pain and Anxiety

This multicenter randomized controlled trial evaluates the effectiveness of music therapy in reducing pain and anxiety during the latent and active phases of labor in Tunisian women. Participants are randomized to receive either music therapy or standard care. Primary outcomes are pain (VAS) and anxiety (STAI-Y). Secondary outcomes include labor duration, maternal and fetal vital signs, neonatal outcomes, and maternal satisfaction.

Ultrasound Guided Midline vs Landmark Paramedian Continous Spinal Anesthesia in the Elderly

Former clinical studies have reported the superiority of the landmark guided paramedian approach above the classical landmark guided midline approach for the continuous spinal anesthesia especially in the elderly. On the other hand, more recent clinical trials have suggested that the use of ultrasound to guide spinal anesthesia will be safer and more effective than the conventional palpation-guided technique. The aim of this study will be to compare the conventional "blind" landmark paramedian approach to the ultrasound "modern" guided midline approach for the continuous spinal anesthesia in the elderly with hip fractures. Patients will randomly divided into two groups: Group(PML): will undergo conventional landmark guided paramedian continuous spinal anesthesia Group (MUS): will undergo ultrasound guided midline continuous spinal anesthesia

Diagnostic Interest of the Buccal Schirmer Test in Xerostomia During Sjögren's Syndrome: XERODIAG

Xerostomia is a common and very bothersome manifestation that impairs the quality of life in Sjogren's syndrome. Its diagnosis mainly relies on the measurement of salivary flow (SF). Performing this test is unpleasant for the patient, lacks precision, can be influenced by certain conditions, and requires good patient cooperation. Other alternatives such as the buccal Schirmer test can be used. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the non-inferiority of the buccal Schirmer test compared to SF measurement. This is a diagnostic study comparing a group of patients (n=90) with Sjogren's syndrome (SS) and normal SF (≥0.1 ml/minute) to a group of patients with SS and decreased SF (\<0.1 ml/minute).
